2 weeks ago, on a Friday night, we fed Mocha at 5 pm like usual, took her outside so she could do #s 1 & 2, and then she came back in the house. As usual, around 6:30 she went into our bedroom to lay on her bed, and when I went to wake her up to go outside again around 7:30, I saw that she had peed in her bed. Not a little leakage, but a lot. Poor girl was mortified. This was a first for her, it's never happened before. I didn't want to rush her off to the vet in case it was a fluke, so I watched her every day and night. No small leakage, no wet spots on her pillows, no more accidents, she was urinating normally, and then last Saturday it happened again.
Same exact sequence; she had dinner, went out and did her business, came back in, and then went and laid down on her bed around 6:30 or so. Around 7:15, she came out and stood there looking at me with sad eyes and ears back, so I went and checked and it happened again, a total loss of control and a lot of urine, considering she had just gone about 2 hours prior.
Took her to the vet this morning and had them check for UTI, although I haven't seen her licking or anything out of the ordinary - test was negative and they saw no crystals in the urine either. Also had them do a wellness blood panel since we were there and a few months ago, she had slightly elevated liver ALT levels. Next, the vet wants to do an X-ray to rule out stones, and if that's negative, they're thinking she's at the onset of spay incontinence.
Anything else I should have them check for? Nothing else has changed; appetite, thirst, energy level etc., perfectly normal. Poor Mocha, she looked so horrified, confused, and ashamed to have peed in her bed.
