Starting yesterday her discharge is like a dark muddy brown color....is this normal?

I wouldn't call it normal, however, I have had a couple of bitches do this in the past and when cultured turned out to be nothing more than old blood.

I would monitor her temperature and if elevated or the discharge lasts more than a few days, I would recommend a vet check.

 

I have found that to be normal. It does start off normal red and by day 12 -14 turns much lighter and that is usually the time they ovulate and are ready to breed. Toward the end of season it will
turn darker and taper off.
