i'm researching flea/tick/etc. repellents for this season, as it's about time to start treating Ripley.
our vet recommends Advantix and Frontline. i don't hate Frontline, but i don't think it's terribly effective for my area. i can't use Advantix due to having cats in the house (and one of them is terribly sick).
in my research, the Bayer collar has come up more than once as a fantastic alternative. i'm not finding information about which ingredient in Advantix is dangerous to cats...is it the permethrin?
has anyone used this collar on their dogs, or knows anything worthwhile about it? is it damaging to dogs' coat? she IS being shown, so i'd like to avoid anything that'll cause coat problems around her neck.
i'm still researching this option but i figured i'd ask here. thanks for any and all input.
also, for my fellow science dorks, here's the study:
Efficacy of an imidacloprid/flumethrin colla... [Parasit Vectors. 2012] - PubMed - NCBI
