Does anyone here use Beaverdam Pet Food products?

My boyfriend highly recommends this brand, its what he has fed to his dogs previously, and I was hoping someone could just look it over first for that extra reassurance. I really don't know enough about dog food to know what is decent food, and what isnt. Being as this is my first puppy from a breeder, I just want to make sure I am taking the right steps to ensuring whats best for our boy.

I also am buying some slow feed bowls to put in our dog bowl stand.. I figured that would be a good thing to introduce right off the bat.

I liked the Eli's Select for being Grain-free, but the 33% protein worried me. I think I have read somewhere on here about protein for puppies shouldn't be higher than 24%, is that correct?

Any advice would be great. If this brand isn't one you'd recommend, what would you recommend?

Yup, we are in Maryland, and its only sold at the local hardware stores, no major chain stores like Petco from what I have seen. We like to support local businesses though.

I just want to make sure I am not setting myself up for failure with any of these. I think the Puppy/Hi Energy Adult food is the one I would be leaning towards.

Ah, good find! Good to know.

I think I'll start with the Puppy/Hi Energy Adult food first.

Can anyone comment on the 33% protein levels in the Eli's Select, and whether or not that product is too high in protein for a puppy? I would love to start off the bat feeding grain-free.

If you are interested in dog nutrition, I always recommend Linda Case's book, "Dog Food Logic." It's a short read - she is a canine nutritionist with a master's degree in canine nutrition. She teaches you how to evaluate and understand dog food and feeding without addressing specific brands. It's *really* helpful. Not an expensive book - you can get it on Amazon in regular and Kindle formats. It really helped me.
