How many different types of toys do they have? (Kong’s, ropes, balls, stuffed ) What are their favorite ones?
- Kong ball
- Bad Cuz ball
- ropes
- Soccer balls he has stolen from the playground LOL
He loves soccer balls or water bottles. He likes his Bad Cuz as well but I think I like it more because it has been the only toy he hasn't been able to destroy!

Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last?
Depends on what it is. If it's a water bottle or a soccer ball - it will last T minus 3 minutes lol. Plush toys he will either love and take care of or kill. He has had one plush toy since the day we brough him home - the rest of met their makers.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely?
Serial Stuffie Killer indeed! I only know which plush toys have come to their end when I see it coming out of his other end the next day.....

Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs?
He usually plays by himself. But if he wants to play with me then he will just come over and slap whatever it is in my hand (of course still holding on to the other hand) and start grumbling at me.
He plays with other dogs - usually if he steals another dog's ball and they bark at him for it, he will give it back. He's really gentle with sharing with puppies too.

If you play with them, What games do you play?
Tug of War, hide n go seek, tag (apparently lol), fetch

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones?
Nope. Even though he may growl when you're playing tug of war - that is something that happened when he was little and we kind of encouraged by accident. So he thinks that's the right way to play tug of war. He NEVER gets angry about playing with his toys, never nips, etc.

Sascha is a “Serial Stuffie Killer". every week we go to some thrift stores or some garage sales and bring her home some new "victoms". she gets so excited when we come in with the bags, she know what's in there! the first thing she likes to do is chew the eyes and nose off, then she empties the head of the "stuffing brains" and then moves on to a new victom. at first we were leary of the stuffed animals but after watching her we no longer worry. she does not chew on the eyes, she simply pulls them off the victom and disguards of them. same with the stuffing. is it a pain going around the house picking up stuffing and eyeballs? yes. but i find that if she has her victoms to keep her busy she has little time to destroy my belongings.

How many different types of toys do they have? (Kong’s, ropes, balls, stuffed ) What are their favorite ones?
We have ropes, plush/stuffed squeaker toys, balls, a Kong, and a few other random things that I can’t put a name to. Both Korben and Gaz seem to favor the plush toys, but Korben tends to play with almost anything, he just pays more attention to the stuffed-squeaky ones.

Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last?
Very much so. It depends really. Korben wants to rip things up the second he gets them, whereas Gaz rips up some, but others she keeps around for a really long time; she carries this one stuffed dragon around like a little girl would her dolly.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely?
Korben holds that title, he really can’t stand to leave things stuffed. Gaz is sort of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with her toys. Some she’ll massacre, but like her dragon, she’ll leave others mostly intact.

Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs? If you play with them, What games do you play?
Gaz has been a solo player, unless playing with one of the people in the house. When we brought Korben in, she’s tried to stay to that, but she’s started to learn to play with him as well. They play tug or keep away mostly. Korben loves to play tug.

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones?
I haven’t seen any toy aggression at all with either dog. Gaz is a little selfish, and likes to steal toys, but Korben willingly gives her anything she tries to take, unless they are playing a tug-match. Korby has learned to just start stealing her toys when she’s not paying attention though, it’s sort of funny, a constant back and forth between the two.

Also, Korben loves to chase the dot of a lazor pointer. He likes his other toys, but he gets out right ecstatic when I so much as even touch the lazor pointer. I just have to pick it up, and he’s right there, staring at the ground, just waiting for that little dot. It’s super cute, and a great way to get him to run around and work off some energy. He’ll run around like a spaz chasing it, stalking it, trying to stomp on it, or bite at it, while Gaz just sits and watches like ‘Look at this fool’.

Drama has a toy bucket with kongs, stuffed toys, and some balls.

Her favorite is the Kong Wubba (regular Kong with the nylon straps sticking out). It only comes out on park days, she likes to swing it and let it go (almost smashed the tv).

She is a serial killer. She goes through stuff animals like I do cookies. She prefers stuffed animals with squickers or anything else with squickers in it.

As she is a destroyer, we have to monitor play time or we end up with a big mess. She doesn't eat bones, just hides them in different spots around the house. She loved them when she was getting her adult teeth in.

Morgan LOVES water bottles! Destroys them in no time at all. I found some toys for him for xmas that have no stuffing - just a 'skin' that you can put an empty water bottle inside...still makes the water bottle 'cruching' sounds!

How many different types of toys do they have? (Kong’s, ropes, balls, stuffed ) What are their favorite ones?
We've only had Jake for about a month and a half, but he's currently got 6 different toys: Kong Wubba, which only took him 3 days to "de-squeak"; 2 rope toys, one with a ball on it; a de-stuffed caterpillar; a nylon/canvas bone shaped stuffy; a squeaky tennis ball-type barbell
Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last?
He is destructive; the caterpillar HAD a squeaky, he killed it, I put another squeaky in it, and he killed that too, he recently pulled most of the stuffing out of it, so I pulled the rest out and stitched up the numerous holes and he still plays with it; there are a few others that have been destroyed and gone to the garbage.
Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely?
he's a stuffie killer for sure; though he doesn't tear them apart immediately, he likes to play with them first
Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs?
We've only got one dog, and he hasn't had the opportunity to play with other dogs with toys involved. We play with him with the toys, and he plays well.
If you play with them, What games do you play?
mostly fetch, tug-o-war, hide the squeaky (he's hilarious when trying to find the squeaking toy)
Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones?
no toy aggression witnessed; as I mentioned he hasn't had the opportunity for toy play with other dogs yet, but he will *leave it* when I tell him to, so that I can take any toy from him.

Zac has a lot of toys....he has about 10 tug toys, two kongs, a few "smart dog" toys, about million balls, a few ropes, an inflation, bones, stuffed toys, frisbees.....

Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last?

Umm he is very destructive with some toys and not with others. He is 10 months and has had some toys since I bought him at 3 months and some toys last about an hour.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely?

Minus pinky and muffy he is a serial stuffie killer

Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs? If you play with them, What games do you play?

He plays all of the above. When we are together we play tug mostly.

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones?

Other dogs can take any of his toys but pinky and muffy from his mouth....he will growl if a dog wants pinky or muffy but if they push for either toy he will allow them to take it...he then sulks in the corner for a bit and goes to try to steal it back

Levi has had them all and will generally play with anything he is given but his fav and will do anything for it is ........................Plastic water bottles if he could he would play all day long with them i tend to use ones that are bigger than his mouth so all it does is get thrown around the house. Makes a hug racket as all my floors are tiled in the house but hey he loves it

oh and his frog (stuffed) he wont sleep without it and only ever mouths it (or sometimes gets jiggy with it )

How many different types of toys do they have? Kellogg has all of the above, Kongs, balls, ropes, stuffed and I even make some toys for him

What are their favorite ones? He loves ALL of his toys.

Are they destructive with their toys? It depends on the toy. He has toys that he will destroy in a matter of seconds and others that he treats like babies.

How long do they last?As I said before, it depends on the toy and the amount of time he has a chance to play with them. He has one rubber chicken that squacks obnoxiously that I got from spencers store that he carries around and molests. I, ironically, named it corn flake. Yes, Kellogg's corn flakes.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? He definitly is a Stuffed critter killer. He just recently moved to his bed & now foam is everywhere.

Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs? Yes, he plays alone and with me. He will bring me toys as well.

If you play with them, What games do you play?. tug, fetch, keep away etc.

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones? NO! he is never aggressive about his toys. If they are taken away he jumps & runs around trying to get them back. If another dog takes them he barks at them saying, "hey, THAT was mine. Lets play together!"

Toys R Hugo...

How many different types of toys do they have? (Kong’s, ropes, balls, stuffed ) What are their favorite ones? Hugo has MANY toys. He has favorites for different occasions. CATCH = Tennis Ball. TUG = Sock Chain (old socks knotted into a long chain), Sock Ball (Old socks stuffed with a tennis ball) FETCH = 12" length of heater hose. CHEW = Antlers, Stuffed Kongs. ROMP & PLAY = One of his 16 assorted ducks. These get tossed into the air, rolled on, buried, de-squeaked, carried, piled, and bartered for treats, etc.

Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last? Instantaneous destruction! A 36" pizzle lasted 2 hours. A cheap tennis-type ball lasts 5-10 minutes. A heavy-duty 'doggy tire' is more like a 'doggy crescent' within a week.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely? Toy destroyer for sure! I buy squeakers by the bag. Duck surgery is an every evening event for me.

Do they play with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs? If you play with them, What games do you play? Hugo prefers company when he plays. He doesn't want to play alone!

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones? No toy aggression at all

you shouldn't teach a dog to play tug with a human- because if you lose your dogs won in its eyes (dominince thing) If you win than your a higher rating in his eyes. its the same thing if a dog paws at you or puts it paw on you -domanace thing .

please try to refrain from teaching your dog tug with you or any human

Dog on dog can play tug.

Aries has been given a lot of different kinds of toys. The ones he has not destroyed but have played with and enjoy are the Jolly Ball (horse size), Busy Bud (with treats and peanut butter), Kong (with treats and peanut butter), a three foot rope with knots to play tug and toss around, and Thinnies that have no stuffing but do have squeakers. He also loves to fetch any of these items, as well as tennis balls. Aries also thinks he has a job to keep something in his mouth. So usually he comes in and is holding either a newspaper, ball, etc.

He has shredded stuffed toys and when he was younger I learned a good lesson on what else gets shredded if you leave a dobe puppy alone in a house without being in a crate. He is a year old now and since he is my first dog I've taken full responsibility for, I too have learned a lot.

I went through several stores and shopped online to look for what would keep my dogs attention based on his shown preference. What I have concluded is my dog loves to play with me with his toys. If I'm out of the equation he gets bored rather fast. Unless it's a toy with treats that he is determined to get or a rawhide chew (always supervised), Aries will become bored with the toy and demand my attention.
Dogs have different preferences and not all fall into the same categories. I love this forum for discussion because I can learn what other owners are trying and try out new ideas I think could work with my dog.

Just a side note. I think everyone knows their own dog. Just because something may be viewed negative in a general manner may work out okay with a bit of knowledge or guidance. I try to make sure my posts appear to be positive and well portrayed when writing them. Individuals may take 'advice' or someone's view point that they are trying to make negatively when their really just trying to share their knowledge.

How many different types of toys do they have? (Kong’s, ropes, balls, stuffed )

There are SO many. Just about the entire toy aisle at Petsmart, it seems. We have Kongs, ropes, tennis balls, stuffies (minus the stuffings), Nylabones, Everlasting Treat Ball, Chuckit, Woozy, and I can't think of the name of it but it's a pretty much indestructible ball with a handle on the top, frisbees, toys stuffed with water bottles, and water toys (hot here already some days)

What are their favorite ones?

Tennis balls (he LOVES fetch) and our Siamese cat

Are they destructive with their toys? How long do they last?

He's really great with his toys so far. We haven't had to throw away or replace a single one except for a Frisbee our kids threw on the roof.

Do you have a “Serial Stuffie Killer”? (Stuffed toys that are shredded beyond recognition) or do they play with them nicely?

Nope, he plays nicely with them. He mostly just likes to make the stuffed ones squeak.

Do they with the toys by themselves or do they play with you or other dogs?

He plays with us, our other dogs, the cats, and himself.

If you play with them, What games do you play?

Fetch is, by far, his favorite. He could play that all day long. We also play hide & seek a good bit, but we're working on SAR so that's part of his training.

Have you seen any toy aggressive behaviors with all toys or only with certain ones?

None of them. I don't think he has an aggressive bone in his body, but he's only four months old too.

haha I like this thread.
Buffy has kongs (doesn't bother with em), kong balls, kong frizbee that is just the outer ring left (its her fave), a kong stick thing that all of my friends mistake for um..an adult toy (but she loves it and can't seem to destroy it) recently found a rope from a neighbour and has proceeded to make it into string..some tricky food dispenser thing that she likes by itself without the food dispensing part.
She absolutely loves to dissect all stuffies, within minutes of getting them and its the only type of toy she goes crazy for, so I pick them up here and there. Only cheap ones. Tried the 'indestructable' ones and now I only buy the xmas ones when they're on sale the day after. Ropes are the other thing she loves and destroys quite quickly. Anything paper is her enemy. We play fetch a lot now that she all of a sudden knows how it works (she's 1.5, no idea how she all of a sudden just decided to finally play it, never worked for the longest time).
As for aggresively playing if you mean shaking to 'kill' and that kind of thing, she does that with her kong frisbee loop.

She also has this habit that can be annoying/embarassing when i have company; she constantly feels the need to chew her toys ON people while they're sitting on the couch. Sometimes she nips by accident, which is the main reason I'm not a big fan.

He's not a dobe but the Kong Ballistic frisbee is the only toy we've found that is "Singe proof" He doesn't get to play with it unattended but 2 months and it's still in great shape! Most toys last about 20-30 minutes. Except for the "unstuffed" fox we bought him as a puppy, the kind you put empty water bottles in? I think they are called Skinz or something like that. It's tattered remains are actually hanging on the fence in the backyard lol
