I've seen some pictures of bumps on Dobe's body but the ones on Zena's leg appear different. Vet says there should not be a concern and when I took her to pet store for a bath they had not seen bumps like these before.

I'd like to get some feedback and see if anyone else knows what these are based on pictures attached.

I see her laying down on her side but very rarely on the side where her bumps are so I can only assume there is discomfort or pain.

She lays down on concrete, pillow pad, dirt and grass. Most frequently I think she chooses dirt and soil under bushes and trees during the day then at night likes the pillow pad or concrete.

Dogs with short coats need to lay on soft material or they can get sores just from laying on hard surfaces. Outside you can use a Kundra bed or if it is really hot where you live they have Canine cooler beds (water bed for dogs).

The only thing to me about the idea of pressure sores is that these do not appear to be on the pressure points, where the joints bones stick out and would naturally rub. One is up on the knee, but the other two appear to be on areas of the leg where they are actually recessed from the rest.

I think I would ask the vet why he thinks there is no need to worry--what he thinks they are and whether they will go away without treatment.

I agree as it does not appear to me these have occurred from sitting on hot on rough surfaces. I appreciate every ones feedback posted.

I will ask Vet again and he may just not even know at which point I will probably get a second opinion.

What was it?

What was this? My 16 wk dobe has this or---seems to have this. Seems like dry skin. I was wondering if it is something I should see the vet right away with....she's not due for another 2 weeks. Or is there some ointment?

As a certified vet tech, my 2 cents worth is (by what I can tell of the pics) appears to be plugged hair follicles, most likely from her time outside. Most times a short haired dog will get, say an ant bite- and from them licking it the dirt and saliva tends to get plugged in the hair follicle. I would say check with your vet again, but in the meantime, a nice medicated bath particularly on those areas would be needed and maybe check the areas she lays in for ants or misquitos, etc.
