Yay! Gunner's ears are up!

I was pretty worried about Gunner's ears when I first got him. A new vet told me they would never stand and tried to talk me into a pricey procedure. Thanks largely to this forum, I decided against it and we've been posting constantly. I untaped them today to change the posts and LOOK! :) This is the FIRST time they haven't completely flopped. When he relaxes they still flop a bit, but for a cookie, at least he can get them both to stand. I'm SO excited! I know we still have a lot of posting left to make it permanent, but at least I know it's possible!
(btw, he's a RED. My camera phone turns him blue lol)

What great news! It is upsetting how some vets try to get you to do somethings so quickly.

He looks fantastic!! I was pretty sure all he needed was some posting! Just stick with it, now that you see how much progress he is making it will be easier for you to stick with it! You might be tempted to let them go for a day or so but dont do that yet. You dont want them to flop at all and lose any progress you have made, just keep posting him for a while and give them a chance to get good and sturdy. He really does look good and once they are standing on their own he is going to be a very handsome guy!

I was just as excited when I saw the same thing with Norman. Never thought I would get so excited over ears before lol Now he has one ear that is not wanting to follow the rules, but what I learned from everyone here.... just keep on posting, when in dought, just keep posting :) Keep up the great work :graduate:

Thanks everyone!! I didn't choose the vet who did the crop so I was a bit nervous about how they would look...especially since that new vet said the crop job was ugly :( They aren't quite as artistic as some other crops I've seen, but I'm just thrilled they are standing. I wish I had owned him when the decision about the crop was done, but overall I like it. :)

Should told that vet that his face was ugly and too bad there was nothing you could do to fix him. Gunner looks awesome!

Lol, I should have! I was in shock though and didn't say much...couldn't believe he was being so rude!
I am so haappppy for you! I had that same "tingley feeling" of happiness when I saw our baby girl's up for the first time and she looked like a REAL doberman baby! And, then, after some more postings, one of her ears would go sideways, so I was hoping you could post some of your advice that helped with your success..... Great job! PS: Did it ever sprinkle rain and you were torn between taking the posts down and redoing it, since they weren't really that wet?.... Or, any other examples? How long did you keep the posts in that resulted in both ears up?.. Thanks!

I remember this thread and suggesting some comments to come back at this vet who basically was super negative and was urging some corrective surgery-- or else. The economy is bad and alot of people are not taking their pets in to the vets for even routine vaccinations, any more. We live in the Chicago area and the people with Pit crosses are prevalent. They are coming into my husband's clinic with full blown PARVO, almost everyday. The clinic where my husband works is discounting HUGE prices so people will get their suffering animals treated. I am only saying this to let people know that not all DVMs would try to pad a bill. I am happy for you that you were diligent and had FAITH! Super great story!

You know, after a couple more months or however long it takes to get his ears up, you should go back and pay that vet a visit, with Gunner and show him how great his ears are standing and let him know that you did it all natural with just posting them. I bet he will really feel like an ass for the stuff he said to you then, or at least you can hope he will!

Exciting! Keep it up and agree - you'll need to pay a visit to that vet when he's really done. ;)
