Hi, my name is Scott, and I'm looking for a European Doberman puppy. I would like it as a pet. I'm not planning to show, work or breed the dog. I noticed a lot of good breeders require you to get a title or something like that. Also it seems pretty hard to be considered to be on a list for a litter with a good breeder. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction or if this is the wrong way to go about it. Sorry if this is posted in the section.

There's a 4 week old (I think?) litter on the ground right now in Santa Rosa with Incredible Dobermans. Other european breeders in california include von Luka, vom Landgraf and Adlercrest.

What is the story behind the two cute littermates in your avatar?

Good breeders are careful about who gets their puppies. While I have not personally met one who requires you to title the puppy you purchase, it is almost always the case that puppies going to pet homes are sold on a limited registration.

It is the norm to be required to provide references, including a veterinarian, as well as permission and contact info for your landlord if you are renting. To be asked about the disposition of any dogs you've had in the past. To be asked how you intend to care for the dog you propose to purchase; exercise, training, feeding, lodging. How you'll care for this dog if you need to be away. To be asked about any other pets you may also have in your household. To be asked how your household is configured with regard to humans, too.

Finally, it is the norm to stay in contact with your breeder throughout the life of your dog. At least. So you'll want to connect with someone you find to be comfortable company for you; someone you'll be happy to have as your primary resource and mentor.

As Linda has asked, what's the story behind the two pups in your avatar? Also, why a Euro dog in particular?

Thank you Mangujowa, I’ve contacted Incredible Canine, and have asked for a puppy application.

The picture I have as my avatar, is my parents dobe’s back in 1996. There was 3 of them living under the same house at the time, but I could only find that picture. The one laying down is Kenny, the one sitting is Tina, and the one missing from the photo is Shaq. All 3 are bother and sisters, and yes they were from a BYB :(. At the time we purchased them, my family wasn’t very good with the English language, so they weren’t aware that it was bad to purchase from a BYB. Also I don’t think the dobe’s were purebred, Kenny had a white marking on his chest. None the less, they were such great dogs. So many cute and loving stories I can tell about them, but that would be a very long reply.
Kenny, and Tina were my parents dobe, and Shaq was my Aunt. From day one, they were always together. From vet visits, to parks, and beaches, even sometimes when they were at our place of businesses. Each of the dobe’s would be at one of the shops, and when they came home, they were all kept in the same house. Unfortunately , time’s changed and each had to go their own way. They were together for almost 10 years, but then the family started splitting up. Shaq went to Washington with my Aunt, Kenny went to New Mexico with my parents, and Tina went to Apple Valley with my Uncle. We haven’t been keeping in touch since then, so I’m not sure as to out come of the dobe’s.

As for the contract, I think I might have worded my post wrong. I am all for the contract of a top tier bloodline. If they have show potential, or they are made for the working class, they need to be put with people that are up to the task of that bloodline. I understand why the breeder require the things they do for their litter, I would too, if I was blessed with one of those gorgeous dobe’s. I was more referring to, if anyone knew a good breeder, that has very healthy puppies, that wouldn’t mind me having as just a pet/family member. I wouldn’t want to waste the time of a breeder if they were looking for a family to show/work the dog.

Euro or American Dobe. Hehe I’ve seen pictures of the euro dobe, and I never knew they can get so big! They look so masculine, and strong. Just beautiful to me. I actually have no preference, euro dobe and American dobe will still love you the same way. I just never had the chance to experience a euro before. I would be happy with either of the breed. I had the chance to be part of 3 American dobe’s, and they made me fall in love with the breed. They can look all tough, but when you look at their eye’s, you know they have that big heart of gold :). Always so happy to see you, and always right by your side.

Baxter, just read your long post. FYI, doberman can have a white spot on the chest, not supposed to be a large one, no bigger than a quarter.:)
