It's been hot (100* and above) here in So Cal for the last couple weeks, so instead of complaining about the weather, I decided to do something about it. Mensa and I went up to the local mountains, where the temps are much more agreeable. Here's what we did:

Here are a few more:

This last one is from last week. One of the old department stores down-town has a watering trough for dogs. It's been here forever, I remember it from when I was a kid. Mensa knows exactly what it's for.

Thanks, Brumwolf.

This is my system: If I take at least a hundred photos I might get a dozen I'm not embarrassed to show to other people.

It shouldn't be too long for her ears. I signed on for the extended after-care, so the Vet does all the posting. She goes in once a week for new posts. If I can remember, I bring the camera. These pics are from a couple weeks ago:

they really look good! Is the picture of her ears standing up right after you take off the posts? How much do they fall a little later in the day?

I love where you hike!!! I NEED to find somewhere I can go like that!!! Do you ever run into people out there?
She is looking beautiful and she is growing up! Seems like for how young she is you already covered half of the excitement some dog owners give their dog in a lifetime! I bet she has so much fun with you!

LapDog,

I don't know how long her ears will stand before they flop. I only see them for about 5 minutes at the Vet's office when they get re-posted.

I saw about 10 or 12 people when we were out yesterday (Monday). It didn't seem like there were many people for a holiday weekend. Mensa loves everybody. If she sees someone, she runs right up to them and introduces herself.

I'll bet you can find some places near you to run Duchess. Go to a bike shop and find out where the Mountain Bikers ride. They know where all the trails and dirt roads are.

Look up the Sierra Club. Your local chapter will have tons of information on good places to go.

Chaz, I think we are on the same "picture taking routine" I do the exact same thing.....I literally take hundreds of pictures a week, then I just pick out my favorites. Gosh I love digital :D

Mensa is getting BIG! Her ears are looking great! Also, that is the coolest watering trough ever, I had no idea that places like that still existed! What a neat thing to have though.
