When I was a teenager my parents had a German Short-hair Pointer and bred her one time. She had 13 puppies and all lived. We did have to do supplemental bottle feedings twice a day....which I LOVED!

Yes, I hope they are all ok. Joanne is VERY good about supplementing and stuff like that. Hannah is a rather smallish bitch, she weighed 89 lbs at the vet today, all puppies, not fat. I can't imagine!!!

I have seen this before a couple of times. From some of what I have seen it depends allot on whether the bitch is a good mum, and yes they were supplemented when she was looking a little drained, and the bigger ones were taken off so the smaller ones would get the advantage of moms milk and thrive. Some bitches are like humans there are ones who dote and care about there young and there are some who just shouldn't have children. Lucky enough for the puppies they leave there sometimes biting drawing blood and ignoring don't want anything to do with the pups mom early and real children spend years in an environment that they know every day they were not wanted.

Will the pups come early with there being so many?

Its possible. Poor thing sometimes can't make it outside before she has to go potty. Has to eat several small meals a day too. I don't know their exact due date, I'll find out and then we'll see when they are born.

LOL, I'd be ready to cut my wrists if I were the breeder. I had a litter of nine, and wouldn't even want to ever have that many again.

Joanne was trying to laugh about it but it was from shock I believe! She's had big litters on a few occasions and seems to handle it pretty well. Makes me really happy with my litter of THREE!! Took one last trip to the casino today which will be her last outing for a while. Tomorrow she starts getting everything ready. Me.....I'd be a basket case! She suggested maybe a 2 for 1 sale?

Wow!
I have seen one litter of pups born.........not dobes, and the mom was tired out by the time the 6th pup came, there were still three more after that she needed help with.

I am sure her bitch will have all the help it needs, and I hope things go smoothly before, during & after :)
