Hi all! I will be getting my very own sweet-smoosh face next week.

He got his ears cropped today as well as an umbilical hernia fixed (not very big). The hugeness that is the Internet has so much conflicting information on this that I can't really be certain of anything. I am not planning on breeding this dog, but some sites state that the hernia might reoccur or that if it was large enough it might cause intestinal problems later.

Sounds like crap to me.. but I thought I'd check and see if anyone has dealt with one of these before.

Most hernias are easily repaired and never become a problem again. It's not something I'd worry about too much. That's not a very large hernia, I've seen much bigger.

In some cases it's not any kind of genetic issue, it's caused by the mother biting the umbilical cord too close at birth.

That is very good to know, thanks MurreyDobe... I was worried it might cause issues later in life. :)
