The past couple days have been so hot and all the furries want to do is sleep. I've taken it easy on him because it is so hot to do walks but you do have to study. I tried doing the walking but he was so mopy and hot we only got a couple minutes done so we got some water and did our stays. He did wonderfully considering one of the kids let Summer out in the middle of the sit/stay and he didn't break at all. I walked around the yard and thought to bring my camera to snap some pictures of my good staying boy.

This was before training yesterday. The sun does this to him and then I make up for it at night.

Sit/stay from about 20 feet (didn't count the time).

Down/stay from about 20 feet (didn't count).

And "leave it"

We also did his stands and all I had to do is touch his belly with my foot. I tried it with just the command but he is not there yet. He'll do it without the command and just the touch but not vice versa. I'll have to start adding in a hand signal to see if that will work. He seems to do better with signals to start off with anyway before getting more obedient with his commands.

Thanks. I'll share your compliments with him. He is the sweetest family boy. We're still working VERY hard with strangers. He doesn't want to leave my side at all which is our biggest training set-back. He's very timid with the trainer and even with other people in the class but we're working on it. He does let others pet him now without totally cringing away. With us though he is a total doberlove and loves nothing more then to cuddle on the couch, bed or anywhere we go.

I still look back at my months without Cleo and how much we still miss her like mad but it makes us appreciate him so much more and not take for granted anything. I want to enjoy every part of him growing up and I figure the more work it takes us to get there the more quality time I get to spend with him.

BIB--Enjoy her stump, I miss seeing the butt wiggle. It isn't quite the same with the tail but the tail adds a little character of it's own. I'm sure she could pull it off just as well as he does though.

Javasmom--He does wonderful with any treat I throw out and tell him to leave it or just place down. If it put it right in front of him and tell him leave it he puts his nose right up to it and stares at it until I tell him "Okay, good boy". I love the look on him while he's waiting.

I wish it would work better with toads though. I can't get him to leave them alone at all. Still working on it.
