Hello everyone out there! i'm proud to say im the newest member to the forum:tongue23: I don't yet have a doberman, but I've been doing my research to find a show prospect in the future. I've been raising and training my dogs for the past ten years, showing in conformation and obedience. The dobie has always come up when I dedcide on getting a new dog, but now I feel i'm finally ready to get one. No more runner up for the dobie, YAY!

Thanks for the welcome. This is the niest forum i've seen. I've been showing since I was 10. I a sheltie that ended up being oversized so he just did obedience. I got my cavalier when i was in high school and showed him in the conformation ring. Unfortunately I couldn't bring my babies to the college dorms with me and didn't have the heart to break them up when i got a place of my own. So now they are living happily with my parents and I live with my 9 month old longhair minature dachsund.

How could you say that about Lexus? Doesn't she deserve some blankets too? You and Tom don't need ALL the blankets do you? No, you don't she deserves her fair share. :) Lexus go ahead and pack your bags, you are more than welcome to come home to me. :D I will take you in with open blankets, unlimited play time, and more hugs and kisses than you know what to do with. :D:dancing_b

 Don't encourage her!!! That was the last night that BLANKET HOG gets to sleep on the bed, I don't care what puppy dog eyes I get from her! I woke up with a sore back, sore legs, NO covers, and only about two feet of space to "stretch" out in!

I have two that both think they need to be in the middle of the bed! Darmok will go to the foot of the bed after a few minutes of lovin' and huggin' and toothing around, but still likes to lay her head on my feet (felt good last night, tho, cos my feet were COLD) After she settles in, she's pretty much zonked out for the entire night--no moving around. Sasha is the opposite. She wants to be between me and my wife, right up in our faces, then the legs start pronging out into our ribs, and her head flops over onto your face ~thud~and she wiggles around trying to get so close that she ends up scooting me to the edge of the bed! Seemes like one or both of us was waking up every hour shouting at her: "LAY STILL!" It was a long night last night!!!!

A very WARM welcome to animalcraker to the best dobe site on the web. I too show dobes in England are you in the U.S. i would l like to know more about the A.K.C. breed standard and how they go about things.
As for the blanket issue i do not know of many people who are allowed not to share bed space with their dobies and i have three,so it is always a race upstairs to claim an area of bed!!!!

Welcome Animalcracker! lol, you guys are funny! I haven't given in to letting Cedric in the bed YET, he still sleeps in his kennel. I can imagine getting no sleep at all if I gave in to him.....between him and the 6 poodles that already sleep in my/their bed...i'd end up on the floor!

thank you for the welcome. I know in other countries dobes show with natural ears and/or tails. In the AKC the ears and tails are done. Though I heard rummor that you can show a dobe with a natural ear set, but Iv'e yet to see any. I don't know how the AKC does things differently because I don't know how other kennel cubs work, but you can feel free to message me with more questions about it and I'll try to answer them. I'm sure theres other members on the forum that can answer them as well.:3dbiggrin
