So my puppy has a swollen toe on the inside of her left paw. Last night (before it was swollen) every now and then she would wimper and lick at it. I looked for any noticeable thorns or splinter but saw nothing. Just this morning is when I noticed that it was actually swollen, she still runs and plays but she babies that paw. Should I take her to the vet today or wait a few days while assessing the situation?

I'd go to the vet today, if you can get in. If she's whimpering and limping she's in pain.

She may have broken her toe or her foot. The vet will need to x-ray. If it's a toe the vet may do nothing. If it's the foot, they may want to cast it.

Good luck.

Although it is uncommon for dogs to break a toe, you can never rule it out. It could be a sprain (tearing of a ligament) or even a fungal or bacterial infection.

Like everyone else said, if your dog is favouring it, its best to let a vet take a look.

Atlas had a swollen toe around 2 months ago. Have no idea how he did it or ?

He had an x-ray and multiple vets (they were a bit stumped as well) look at it.

So it became a process of elimintation. First thing was leash walk for about a week along tiht a round of antibiotics. The antibiotics I guess did the trick. Swelling went down. Still not sure about the real cause. Could have been many things. ( maybe a splinter or plant material that worked its way )
Anyway the outcome was good. A vet is where you will have to start. I also soaked his foot in ebsom salts--figure it couldn`t hurt.
