Well, after a long time I have finally talked my husband into another dobe :) I figured that you all have a wealth of information on Dobes I'd ask you all first. We are also in Phoenix, AZ. With Isabelle we were not active in any dog sports, but with the next I'd like to do some obedience with him/her. So basicly I am asking if you all know anyone in my neck of the wood? I'd also like to know who to stay away from. Unfortunately with Isabelle - we didn't do much research into breeders and I don't want to make that mistake again. We've had some health issues over the years - so health is on the top of my list. We are hoping to find a puppy within the year. From all the info I have gathered on this forum I realize that responsible/reputable breeders do not breed often and we may have to wait longer than that and we are prepared for that as well. Any advice??? Thanks in advance :)
There's a DPCA chapter club in the Phoenix area, you might want to contact them for breeder referrals.

Mimi Brown doesn't do a lot of breeding, but her particular line has exceptional longevity, so she might be a good person for you to contact anyway.

Attend a few shows with good entries and meet the breeders and see their dogs in person too.
This is excellent advice. The timing is off, tho..there was just a big circuit in Scottsdale at the beginning of the month. Two specialty shows and 4 all breed shows, all with big entries, in 5 days. Razzle and I were there. :)

But there's always another day and another dog show..you can find out what's coming up in your area with this link: http://www.akc.org/events/search/ Click on "conformation", then pick the state and time frame you're interested in.
