As I said in my welcome post, I am hoping to one day own a dobe. Being as I don't plan to consider having one in my life for another 3 or 4 years, I haven't done too much deep research, but I am curious about issues of skin problems. What skins diseases are Dobes prone to? and is it usually the blues and fawns who get them? or the reds and the blacks too?

Blues and fawns are prone to color dilution alopecia, here is a good website that explains it and talks about how to keep it under control: http://www.seattle-attorney.com/storm/sup.html

Some dogs will also have allergies (though I'm not sure how predominant it is in the breed) that will effect the skin.

Dobermans can also have thyroid problems which I *think* can negatively affect a dog's coat.

Otherwise I'm not aware of any skin conditions that Dobes are prone to...
