A skin growth just showed up a week or so ago on my 5.5 year old female Dobie. It's on her font leg near her "armpit." Her vet took a sample with a needle, but she only saw bacteria and inflammatory cells. She bled a lot when the sample was taken. She told us to put antibiotic ointment on it and come back in two weeks, if it doesn't get better. But, we're still concerned that it might be something more ominous. Has anyone seen anything like this?
Always a bit scary. My Otto (10 yr old lab) just had a toe amputated for what they believed was squamous cell carcinoma, and while the location doesn't fit yours the presentation and inflammation cells do match what I was told and what I read about it. It is commonly misdiagnosed as some sort of infection from a foreign body because of the strong inflammatory response that it causes. Best of luck. I hope that your veterinarian is able to solve the mystery and that your girl is happy and healthy.
