Shedding

How much does you Dobe shed, my guy sheds everywhere. I'm always cleaning up hair everywhere. I also have to clean up around his create everyday, or the hair starts to pile up. Is this normal for a Dobe? The Vet said it was, but I think she may be wrong. Do any of the products like shed terminator work?

My girl sheds horribly too... :sadcry: I have been having her bathed every 6-8 weeks that seems to help.. I dont know if any of those 'shed' products work either.. I have been attempted to buy them, but never have. If anyone knows what would help let me know!!
I don't don't notice duchess shedding much...I only really notice the shedding after I brush her...and you can see the shedded hairs in that spot
Mine don't shed too bad. I am a clean freak and always cleaning, so the hair is never able to collect. I notice it most when we do a wipe down. I love my short haired dogs. :)
I know he sheds, but since we had a shepherd hybrid before him I don't notice the hair Tucker leaves behind at all really LOL
There sure aren't the same tumbleweeds of fluff in the house now as there were when Gilbert was still alive
I think I notice it most when I'm absentmindedly rubbing his side or something...I sit there for 10 minutes and come away with a handful of hair

My thoughts exactly. Our older dog is a flatcoat retriever mix.. sheds like the devil.. Can you say undercoat?? Ugh.

Mine don't shed much at all.

I might have some ideas,
how old is your guy?
What do you feed him? (Food, treats, extras, etc.)
How often do you bathe your Dobe?
Do you brush him at all? With what? How often?
Dobes, like all single coated breeds shed a bit all the time. This is unlike the double coated breeds (Aussies, Shepherds etc) who seasonally shed undercoat in massive quantity and shed the outer coat a bit at a time.

Your vet is right about it being normal for a Dobe to shed. Some Dobes shed more than others.

One of the things that helps is just wiping them down with a damp terry cloth towel once a day--it'll take out a lot of loose hair.

Terminators, which are wonderful for double coated breeds, particularly when they are shedding undercoat don't really work well at all on Dobes or any other short haired, single coated breeds.
Shedding has never been a problem to us even with the four of them being here.
I had a a Norwegian Elkhound before my delicate flower. Going from that perspective, nothing compared to that. She does shed but its not alot and the hairs are tiny...
Mine shed a bit but not excessively. Abbie sheds more than Diesel and her hairs are coarser than his. Don't notice it too much in the house although we are quite experienced at picking the dog hair out of our dinner!! :)
I brush Rudi daily with those knit gardening gloves with the rubber nubbies on one side. I have a stock pile of them.....use one and throw it in the washer.
Peaches doesn't shed as much as Cole did. But she has a thinner coat than he did. I try to use a Zoom Groom on her weekly.
