Ok I'm having a bit of an issue here.....my 8 month old pup is on Harvest Blend, an all life stages dog food. You can only get it from a private distributor...which is fine....but my dog food guy is M.I.A, not returning phone calls, or emails, and my pup has maybe 2 cups of food left. I did not leave this until the last minute....I've been trying to contact my distributor for 5 days and kept holding out hope he'd get back to me. Anyways.....my puppy's tummy does not do well on puppy food...too rich for him...I've had him on Blue Buffalo and Purina Pro Plan and he had the bad runs on both. He's fine on the Harvest Blend. My two questions are...........1) Since he's sensitive to pup food can I put him on dog food at 8 months and what might be some drawbacks to this if any??? and 2) Since I only have a few cups left of his current food I won't be able to transition him over slowly to the new stuff.....how will this affect him? Will anything serious happen?

How worried should I be about this cuz I'm pretty frickin' worried!!!!!

Thanks hun....I was freaking out over this lol, I feel better now. I talked to a friend who never put his Dobes on pup food. They went straight to adult dog food. I just hope my guy is okay switching so last minute like that on him.....I feel like a bad pet owner :(

[email protected] happens at times. If you run into problems transitioning him to the new food, put him on rice and boiled chicken and then transition from it.

I agree, find something similiar if possible...I also tried my hardest to find a food that I could get locally. My girl dog has very sensitive tummy and we are currently on Taste of The Wild which I can pick up at the local farm supply. I have tried BB, Organix, and two others from petsmart which escape me at this time...or shall I say at this hour. Good luck!

LOL thanks Gemma Mom! I have my guy on Blue Buffalo and Pro Plan and both resulted in loose yucky poop. Once I got him on an all life stages food he was fine. I'm hoping and praying his little tummy is just too sensitive for the rich puppy foods. I've researched all night at work, yes I work very hard don't I lol, and I think based on ingredients and user reviews I'm going to try Acana. I can get it locally which will help huge! My problem is I only have about 2 cups of his current food to use to gradually switch him over.....which is going to be tough on his poor little system. My gosh I feel like I'm going to cry, I just don't want this food switch to cause him any pain or any concerns what so ever. I love the little guy so much......when he had Pano and was limping around it was like the end of the world. I don't have kids so he's definitely become the fur baby of my husband and myself lol. He's so sweet.......I'm a first time Dobe owner and now that I have one I will never own another breed. He's brought us pure joy and happiness....fingers crossed this turns out okay for him!
