Our dog has insane separation issues. He can develop diarrhea just being on the opposite side of a glass door for 20 minutes. He became very distressed and extremely ill during a weekend with his trainer while we were visiting family. He has began to tear his nails off digging to get out of his cage. He has ripped the skin connecting his nails to the pad of his foot, causing him to limp for days. He has multiple scars on his nose and a chipped canine from biting and shoving his nose and teeth as far between the cage holes as he can. He loses control of his bladder and bowels depending on how upset he is at that current time. We tried the lengthening of time gone, we have tried using a chain in the backyard to see if behavior there was better (no). We have done the treats, we have left blankets, our T-shirts for scents, bones, and rhythmic items (clocks) to try and calm him. He usually sleeps and eats in his cage no problem but he is even beginning to not want to go in the cage to sleep anymore.

Any ideas of what to do? Why is he getting worse and not better?
