I have not been on here for a couple of weeks. I have had my hands full with Baby Secret.
Christmas morning everything started out as normal. I let the dogs open their own presents. Secret was not quite certain what this was all about but she was perfectly happy to run around the house with her still wrapped toy.
About half an hour after having her breakfast - she got sick. Ok no big deal... I let her stomach rest for about half an hour then gave her a little bit more food. About an hour later she got sick again - drank a ton of water and did not keep that down either.
So I gave her some chewable Pepto and limited her water to frequent small drinks. It seemed like things were going well - she was even begging for food when we had dinner. I held back on her food because she had been sick......
Then at 7pm she threw up again - this time there was a little stuffing ! Off we went to the E-Vet. I spent most of the night at the local evet and then had to take her up to Tacoma in the AM, as my vet had taken that Monday off as well.
The bottom line - EVet surgery to remove the suspected (Actual) obstruction. I am glad we did it even though the xrays were not definitive. If we had waited any longer she would have probably lost a section of small intestine.
$3600 and two weeks later she is doing great...........
But it has been a long two weeks keeping a drivey 5 month old Doberman confined to crate rest!
We think she ate the batting out of a comforter. It is one of those things.
We never saw her eat it - just found a small rip in the comforter the day before.
We will be staying away from any type of rope toy and no stuffed toys for her right now.. . KONGS are our friend.
