Yay! They were testing for the UK Kennel Club Canine Good citizen scheme bronze today and Rupert passed with flying colours :) we havnt done any training for it or gone to any classes but since they were testing for it I thought I'd have a go. :) he didn't really want to lie down on the grass because it was soaking wet, but was a good boy and did it anyway. The judge said we'd be ready I take our silver too.

Way to go Rupert! :nicejob:

Hey Russel, you can find the criteria for bronze here http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/2850/gcdsbronze.pdf

Silver here http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/2851/gcdssilver.pdf

And gold here http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/2852/gcdsgold.pdf

Its all pretty basic stuff, the main thing I'd imagine people struggle with is that its with lots of other dogs around as distractions, especially during the recall and the stay. Its much easier for show dogs I think, as they're already used to walking in close proximity to other dogs and having their teeth looked at ect :) I think I saw about 5 people compete for it today and unfortunately 2 didnt get through, one due to the recall and one refusing to stay.

well done rupert :nicejob: you must be really proud, amelia. i'm hoping to take opie to classes again once i've got a car. i've managed to find an outdoor training school which will be better for him. the indoor classes really stressed him out. far too many dogs for such a small space :(
