Hi all, Just got Coco back from the Vet for spaying, this is a mess, now for 10 days she has to wear a ring collar and it lays right on her ears, now I am afraid that it may brake her ears down!!!!. Does anybody know of anything else I can use? I would really appreciate it, I am thinking about just using Gauze and some 3-M Vet Wrap :confused2

I've used the ProCollar for my other dog, Maggie, before and it worked well. Our problem was that she was TERRIFIED of the regular cone type collar. With the ProCollar she could get around more easily and could eat and drink with it on. Good luck!

I have never used a collar for any spay or neuters - ages ranging from 6 mths thru to 2 years over a 30 yr period. They just really don't bother their sutures unless something happens and they get infected. Anyway, that's my normal plan - I do have an e-collar in case it is needed though.

I have more trouble keeping them quiet (esp the girls).

Is she really only 9wks and you had her spayed? Bit early isn't it? Or maybe you don't update your info - why not just put the DOB instead?

The only time the pup should have to wear an e-collar is when she is unattended or possibly sleeping. Otherwise if you are there to watch her she can be without it and you can make sure she doesnt bother her stitches.

E-collar

Thanks all for the help, sorry I havent updated any information Coco is 6 months & 65 lbs. So far she hasn’t messed with the stitches, the first day was a mess, she couldn’t eat or drink so I took-off the collar and she was ok didn’t mess with the stitches at all. She is already back to eating like a truck drive and we monitor her all the time to make sure everything is ok. She goes back in 10 days and the collar she had on from the Vet is gone, I had to cut it off of her, she was so happy when I took the collar off but, I think I will buy another one and put it on her when she goes back to the Vet LOL.
Thanks again.:)

I wouldn't worry about having a collar on when she goes back to the vet. They probably say that most dogs have their collars off when they come back. the 2nd time. Don't waste your money if she doesn't need it.
