Sorry I don't have any pics (I'll bring my camera next week though), but today was Red's first meeting of puppy class and it went great! He had tons of fun. He was the biggest puppy there, and the most well-trained already.

There were 4 other puppies, a GSD, a pug, a lab/sharpei mix, and a tiny little black mutt. Red LOVED the GSD and they had a good ol time playing.

We didn't really learn anything new because Red already knows how to "sit" and "down" and take treats "nice", so it was more like social hour. But even though we didn't learn any new commands this time, the socialization with the other dogs was great and it was really good for him. The other owners are really nice too, and not weird at all, lol

So we'll be looking forward to going next Saturday morning and play with our friends again! :D

Nice!!!! So great you have him so well trained already. Petey was also the biggest puppy in his class....even larger the the St. Bernard a week younger! Our Dobies grow so fast....nothing like other breeds. Petey has finally slowed down....grew a little upwards this past month...but little weight gain, I was getting nervous that he was going to be over-sized....I don't want that, he is strong enough already with out more muscle on him!

PICTURES!

Thanks Carol :) You're not kidding about Dobe pups growing like weeds! o_O I can't believe how much Red's grown in just the past couple weeks - he's gained 10# in 2 week's time!

Yep, he was such a good boy - even during playing, we could call him off using his name or "cookie". So even though he's big and strong, we can easily control him since he's already knows the basic commands.

I've been working with him a lot so we could show off what a smart boy he is and he sure didn't disappoint! :D

Well done to Red - and to you! Dobies do pick things up so quickly its quite unbelieveable. I bet you were so proud. Even if he's not learning anything new its still good to go for the socialisation. I did the puppy classes and the had some one to one training with the clicker but I've now started another group class as I think it does Tia so much good to mix with the other dogs. I really enjoy it also - its like a social outing!

lol glad it went well! Duchess was always "calmer" then the other pups and wanted to work while the other pups were mingling lol. So we had a great dane pup that pratically refused to get up haha to train next to lol.
we will need pictures from next time :)

Puppy class is the best! I like to go early to my OB class just to see the puppys "training" in the class that is held just before ours.

Yep, he certainly did make us proud, and I'm happy to see how we compare to other families in regards to training. Lets me know I'm on the right track since this is our first puppy. I'm making sure to work with him as much as I can before the next class too, so he can continue to be the best pup there! :D

Yeah it was definitely a good experience for him to play with the other dogs. When we first got there, all the hair was standing up on his back and he was growling a little (even though he's met plenty of other dogs before), but as soon as we got in the room and they were all allowed to sniff each other and play, he was sooo happy! I could really see him learning how to behave around other dogs - what to do, and what not to do.

It was cute because he was playing with the GSD pup and we heard a "yipe!" and the GSD ran back over to his parents, and Red stopped dead in his tracks, and then went slowly over to the pup to sniff him and make sure he was okay - like he was sorry he had gotten a little too rough. And the the GSD got right back up and started playing again and they were pals again. It was so cute!! :D

P.S. Thanks for listening to me gush, everyone ;)

Sounds like you had as much fun as Red ;)

I will be watching for photos!
hehe, I did! And so did my hubby. :) We've been practicing a lot of things since the first class so we can continue to impress everyone every week ;)

I think the socialization with the other dogs has already helped Red A LOT. It used to be that when he spotted another dog, all the hair along his back would stand up and he'd growl. But today we met another dog on our walk, and when Red saw him, he started wagging his tail, his hair didn't stand up and he didn't growl at all - he just wagged his tail and wanted to sniff noses. And even after he sniffed noses, he was fine and didn't do any of the things he's done previously.

He's going to be such a well-socialized boy! I'm so proud of him! :D

EDIT: oh yeah, and I'll definitely post pics after this week's class!
