RAW websites (East Coast)

2278 Views 30 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  dobelover
After alot of looking around, and trying to decide whether to go pre-made RAW, just buying it from the grocery store...or what would be best...

I decided to go with the meat/bone/organ mixes from www.Hare-Today.com (Beef, Turkey, Chicken, Duck, Rabbit, Goat, Mutton) Then I also got some bones. Does anyone know of any other good websites to order from that are on the east coast? Shipping is just waaaaaaaaay out of my price range from the west coast. Really I can buy the beef and Chicken from the grocery store, but for exotic meats and bones and stuff.

Thanks.

You should join a co-op in your area. I don't remember where you are, but I would start by searching Yahoo! Pet Groups (http://pets.dir.groups.yahoo.com/dir/Science/Biology/Animals/Pets) for a co-op. The members get together and order from somewhere in bulk; you get the benefit of saving $.

BRAVO is in NJ. They sell organ meat blends, bones, preprepared diets: http://www.bravosnaturalrearing.com/index.asp

There is a quail farm in VT that sells quail frames and organs: http://www.vermontquail.com/quailbones/.

good luck and if you find any good suppliers, let us know! I'm always searching....

ShaiShai- That is great deal on quail, thanks!
Bravo is actually from CT, not NJ. they have stores all over the nation tho, mostly on the east coast.

prey4pets is from VA i believe, but steph (i think thats her name?) ships all over.

i dont know any others - hare-today is nice, but overpriced and i couldnt afford to feed how much i feed on that! i order from rodentpro.com for my cats and rabbit for the dog, but its whole prey WITh fur and feathers and not everyone is comfortable feeding that. best price for rabbit around, tho!

I had a dog that would eat the entire rabbit, fur, head, everything. The only way we knew he was eating them is that we would find a few tufts of rabbit fur in the backyard. He caught them; we were not buying them. He would not starve; thats for sure. :)

The prey4pets site kept giving me an error message???? :cwmddd:

Fur........heads.........:help_up_2 Nope. Can't do it. I bought about a thousand pair of disposable gloves just to do what I am doing now. I am a major weakling. My dogs should feel VERY lucky that I am willing to feed headless, furless stuff! LOL
so ill warn you before i post those pictures, right? :)

My purebred, fluffy prissy 13 year old cat's favorite meal is whole chicks :)

I've heard great things about Hare Today, if fact they were highly recommended as being a clean well run facility when I started my research for feeding the cats raw. I plan on getting the ground pheasant and ground rabbit for my kids.

For the dogs though, it was just a little too pricey for me.

I will let you know how they like it! She only ships on mondays, so mine will ship next Monday and should be here by about Wednesday. I ordered about 100lbs of various meats.......we shall see! Ziris will eat anything. Rommel and Piper......not so much. Speaking of, does anyone know where the best place to buy fastrack is? Although Ziris will eat anything....it doesnt always "agree" with her, so I would like to start giving that to her to.

It didn't work for me yesterday either. I was just able to open it. Wow! They've got all sorts of stuff! Thanks!
For me I just use these places to buy stuff I feed rarely, otherwise it get way too expensive. Haretoday's chicken feet are awesome, super clean. FiFi gets one after we do nails.
East Coast?

where on the east coast are you guys located?
Web sites for raw

I live in Maryland. I don't like wasting money on shipping from websites. So I decided to go to a neighborhood butcher shop and found out who was supplying their meats. I found a distributor (C&C Meats) in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. There I was able to save alot of money. Their prices were much cheaper. I paid 11.00 for a 40lb. box of chicken necks, 13.00 for 40 lbs. leg/thigh quarters, 11.50 for 40 lbs. pork neck bones. If you would search around i don't see why you could not find the same deals in your areas of the country. Go to the restaurants and find out who supplies their meats. I also asked my favorite Chinese restaurant and they were getting their meat from the same place I got mine. Don't think you have to use exotic meats like rabbitt or venison, but if you can get fresh un-washed tripe, then try it. It's an excellent teeth cleaner. Do not forget the big supermarket chains when asking for a supplier. If they won't tell you for fear of losing a customer, just wait for the trucks to deliver stuff and consult the driver.

I'm actually in your area about 3 weekends out of the month. Where is the butcher shop in Upper Marlboro? Do they have beef and turkey also?
