Raw Feed Update

Well it's been about a month now since i started to introduce raw feed to the girls, and 9 days since we removed all trace of kibble(and it's additives) in their feed(moved them over gradually),and i have to say they are loving it :cool2: Amber has gone off chicken backs a little but adores chicken necks (she is a strange one)and minced beef and heart mix,we are also giving them liquidised veg every other day on their second feed and a natural supplement called Green Ark which is basically vitamins and iron from seaweed and such likes.I feel that their coats are better, their eyes seem brighter too, they just seem to look better overall.I thought i would post a link to the suppliers who i get some of the raw feed from, although its not much use to the majority of members i would just like your thought on their prices, the conversion is simple double on the exchange rate about now so 28p (pence) is approx 56 cents(i think),I get my chicken backs from a market for 10p(20cents) a pound the rest is purchased from Landywoods except for the veggies.
There is a good story about feeding raw if you click on the tab BARF Diets.

Glad its going well and the girls are enjoying it. But I think we need some piccies to see how good they're looking!!!!:)
Waiting for some sunshine to take some decent ones!!
Congratulations! I couldn't get in to see what Ladywoods charges for their blends, but I bet you're paying more than you would if you just bought various meats on sale at your grocery store...? The price you get the backs for is great. Be careful not to feed too much bone. Do you feed any meat without bone aside from the LW mix?
Yeah,we give them muscle meat from cows heart and minced lamb, also some pigs liver to keep their bowels moving.at the moment we are still checking poo(great job) to make sure they are not binding up from too much bone and that is why we are feeding veg also.I have to say the poo is going just like they said it would smaller and less smelly.
Ah, brumwolf the poo expert...LOL!! I'm glad all is going well for the girls and their new diet. And yes we need pictures!

HA!!!! Right on Sooz!!!!

We need pics of the girls "killing" their food. Chi will "kill" a turkey wing for 20 min before she eats it. She has so much fun playing with them that we've started only feeding them to her outside!
Great news, you may just inspire me to try it :D

I glad it is working for you. My neighbors already think I am nuts with my dogs. I can imagine what they would think I am if they saw me outside really digging through their poo before I scooped. If you post a pic of the poo, I want a pic of you digging for gold. Then I would know you were as crazy as I thought. :D
Glad it is going really good for you and your crew. We need to see before and after pictures - yeah, just in case you took pictures of their old poo you can include the before and after of those too:) I'm a poo checker too - my neighbors already think I'm crazy so what the hey. Are you feeding any fish oil and Vitamin E? Fish oil for the Omega's and E assists in the processing of it.
Congrats Brum! I am glad the raw diet is working for the girls. I haven't noticed the "poo" being any less smelly but it is a lot smaller.

awesome, brumwolf! i am a solid advocate of raw diets. i have been feeding artemis, the cat, raw for about a year now with marked improvements in her overall health. i'm slowly working on luna now. try rabbit! it is a bit pricey over here, but they absolutely LOVE rabbit. also, try raw fish (sardines and/or mackerel). very good for their coats.
