My 13 week old pup sometimes breaths quite rapidly at night and I'm wondering if this is something to be worried about. He is in a crate at the foot of my bed, he doesn't like the crate all that much and sometimes will whine and cry for a couple of minutes before accepting his fate and then with ummmph will settle down and sleep.
Last night after he settled down he started to breath rapidly and this went on for quite a while, it was a little warm and I'm wondering if the slightly warm room combined with maybe being a little stressed could cause this?
During the day he's very active, never lethargic and eats, drinks and sleeps normally...
Hmm thats a tough one to give advice on when I can't be there to see. Sometimes my pup will do the same but he is dreaming, if you are unsure then a quick check up to the vet or a phone call if he has already had his puppy vet visit.
Most of the time you can tell when they are dreaming, they will often twitch and occasionally whine ... not always though, its possible they will only pant or breathe hard.
Mine is a noisy dreamer, its kind of funny.
I think a call to the vet is the best thing right now. It could be nothing, but its always better safe than sorry I say.
