Good luck to you and I hope you get what you're looking for. I hope this comes across the right way. But having put down 2 Jalar (or related) dogs down for aggression and another poster just posting last week about their Jalar related dog's aggression, I hope people are being honest with you about the possible issues in the line. Feel free to pm me if you'd like.

I put Jalar Figaro down at 3 for aggression.
I put "Rena"ssance Bretagne down also and he was out of Jalar Dandy. He was not the only one in the litter with issues. The last I heard Jalar Dandy was still alive but spent many of his years not living in the house.
The other poster's dog who mauled his GF (I think) recently went back to of Jalar Geronimo.I think the thread was last week.

Again I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way at all. It's probably none of my business but after going through what I did, I'd be remiss if I didn't share the information. There is obviously no guarantee whatsover it was THE Jalar line, but there's a pattern I've seen over the years.

Sorry I know your addressing Gatehouse but I just want to say, I know this male personally as I use to be a member of the Schutzhund club he belongs to. He has a very solid temperament, like a rock. And he is also a big love bug. No issues with this dog in regards to temperament that I know of. Of course can't speak to the other dogs in his pedigree.

All of the above makes me sad. It seems like, on some level, even when everything is done right and above the board, there can still be issues.

Forum: feel free to llama me...
I'm on my 3rd rescue and there haven't (knock on wood) been any temperament (meaning true aggression) issues. Is there a chance the schism between "good breeding lines" and the BYB crap (not meaning I in any way support cranking out puppies for a profit, I find it beyond disgusting) has shallowed the gene pool so far that this is where we have come?

thank you. His titles look like they've done a lot with him too. I didn't want to start a controversy and hesitated to post. So I really do hope it comes across the right way.

Perhaps a new thread would be best for this?

Temperament was one of the BIG things I considered before I bred to Trav. I not only know his owner but I also spoke at length with a long time dobe person who has spent a lot of time with this dog.
Lucy has a rock solid temperament and with socialization I think we'll have well adjusted puppies!!! :)
