I am in the market for my next doberman. I have a female that is 2 years old and now I want to get a male and preferably a red one. Please point me in the direction of some good breeders/kennels American or European where the work ethic is there and the dogs are not just for show. I will not be showing either of my dogs, but I just want some options as I am about a month or so from getting another one and want to weigh out my choices wisely. Just base off of what I said and not cost.

Thanks

Hi,

I got my boy from a breeder in Serbia. LiperLand is the kennel. My red is almost 15 months and 95 lbs. His bite work is insane and his prey drive is incredible. Awesome with the kids and just a great disposition, I highly recommend Vera. Be prepared to spend some serious money at least $3500 USD for a pup.
Is your female spayed or are you planning on raising pups? That might have an impact on where you will be able to purchase a male.

You can't have an intact female and NOT plan on raising pups?

Have you thought about going back to the breeder where you got yoru female or is there a problem???

The DPCA and the UDC breeder referral sections can be a good help in locating breeders and they are listed by state so will help find someone close. Then you need to contact them and have a list of quesitons. Good luck in your search

You can, but I can't imagine it's the easiest thing and a breeder who doesn't know you well probably won't trust you to be capable of keeping the two dogs apart while the bitch is in heat. Also, a good breeder will probably require you sign a spay/neuter contract on the male that you want to get.

I don't get what you are saying. I asked if the girl was spayed or if they planned on raising puppies. So I don't get your comment to me.

But, like PatchworkRobot said, you can have a female and not plan on raising puppies. I, myself, have kept unspayed bitches without plans to ever breed them, several over the years, in fact. Not my last two cause spaying is just so much easier...

But if this guy's bitch is not spayed, many breeders will not sell him a good male. On the other hand, plenty of byb will and not blink an eye. In fact, they will probably cheer him on.:(

Not so very often, in this country, in case you hadn't noticed.

Well, clearly, you choose not to notice.

There was not one thing wrong with your question--and you are right--it is pertinent, as it will most certainly impact the OP's options, depending on the answer.

RESCUE. Of course they will require your girl be fixed. And the male will come to you altered, both preventing unwanted pregnancy and possibly preventing future vet bills. Also, you will have two beautiful, loyal, happy, protective, "deterrent"?, pet dobes you don't want to show or work. it's a win win situation.
