Just passin' this along...

Pegasus Laboratories is issuing a product recall for two lots of Proin 25 mg bottles due to possible dual labeling.

Pegasus Laboratories, which manufacturers Proin, a medication used to help control urinary incontinence in dogs, has learned that all bottles from lot numbers 120213 and 120416 contain Proin 75 mg tablets, but that dual labeling may have occurred on some Proin 75 mg/60 ct tablet bottles — whereby a 25 mg insert was applied to a 75 mg base label.

This recall only affects mislabeled Proin 25 mg bottles containing 75 mg tablets from the aforementioned lots. However, it is possible that some pharmacies may have inadvertently redistributed the mislabeled Proin tablets in other bottles.

The most common observations in dogs that have overdosed on phenylpropanlamine — the active ingredient in Proin — include vomiting and diarrhea, which generally occur within one hour of dosing. Other signs to look out for include an increase in blood pressure, water consumption, urination as well as dehydration. Contact a veterinarian immediately if your dog displays any of these signs or symptoms.

If you have any Proin 25 mg bottles containing 75 mg tablets from the affected lots or are unsure if your unlabeled tablets have been affected, please contact the pharmacy at which you purchased the Proin or Pegasus Laboratories at (850) 478-2770.
