Posts won't stay in!

I'm pretty confident with posting ears, but Gunner's are giving me major issues lately. I use the tampon method, and can't keep the bottom from popping out of his ear when he shakes his head or plays. I do the tape so that it's sticky and sticks to the ear, and I tape around the base really well..it doesn't matter. A day or so and it's popping out and i have to start all over. Any ideas how to correct this?

I would say the post aren't deep enough. A dogs ear makes an "L" shape, so don't be afraid to set the post in the bottom of the ear...
Maybe use a backer rod/pipe insulation method. Taper down the bottom to make it easier for the posts to go in. Juno has teeny ear canals, so I taper.
I do put it in very deep...as deep as it can possibly go! I can't figure out why they aren't staying in. I'm using a cloth tape...maybe I should try something more sticky?
Maybe the tampon isn't thick enough? I used backer rod for Josie's ears, and as she got older I had to go to a thicker diameter. Also make sure they're shoved down far enough.

I think i am probably going to switch to this method....I will try to taper it. Gunner has small ear canals and no matter what I do, they keep popping out. Do you put cotton or anything in the ear to prevent pockets?
Pinch the ear together, gently, at the base before you set the tape.

You will be closing the ear in around the post a little and once the sticky side of the tape, meets the other sticky side of the back taped post, it will hold in pretty well.

Member Brw with this suggestion for me and has worked very well.

There was also a thread made on this very recently.
