"What is that strange rattling noise?"

"MOM! They're shooting at us!!!"

"But it's not even raining...why do we need an umbrella?"

"Is there any food on this tarp?"

"Did you know somebody dropped their ex-pen?"

"Check that dude out"

"No worries, I've got my eye on him"

"Go ahead, make my day"

"Bring it on!"

sooooo cool! I would love to do this with Petey down the road....how old should he be? What kind of practice did you do before the test...or do you just wing it?

BTW.....BEAUTIFUL GIRL!

They have to be 18 months to take the test, and no, you don't train or practice for it. They are testing the dogs natural response to different situations.

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'm thinking about testing Lena this fall. I have my doubts about her passing. The threatening stranger maybe our downfall. Too much of a daddies girl!

I ought to get Emily to walk her through. Lena would probably be more likely to protect my daughter then me. :)

Carol,

Re practice, my feeling is that when I take Rex through the first time is to do it cold, no practice. As pass or fail, I want to see his true colors. The test was designed as a tool for determining correct Doberman temperment. It's a good test and I think you and Petey might do very well.

this is great. congrats to cher and julie!

i've seen one of these tests on video and it's really neat to watch the dogs' responses. i would love to test luna once she's old enough. i was thinking of waiting until she is two years old. and i've read a lot about the differences of training for this and not. there's a good article on it on the dpca breeder's education committee website. i don't remember which one, but i think it was one written by ray carlisle in response to a breeder's questions. the WAE seems to test a dobes natural ability, so i wouldn't train luna for it. i would be really curious to see how much of the standard dobe tempermant is naturally in her.

Great photos. I love the comment "Is there any food on this tarp?" That is rich.

I don't know about that. Cole is a big momma's boy but had no problem passing the threatening stranger and getting his WAC.

great work! I'm sure both you, cher, drago, and drago's parent(s) put in alot of hard work to get this far!
As much as I would love to take the credit for working so hard, the WAE is really a test of the dogs natural temperament. Cher has had very little training so far, and none to do with a WAE. I haven't even had her that long. The credit has to go to her breeder Elaine for breeding dogs with good temperaments.
