Pears

My year old female has recently discovered a nearby pear tree, she's ALWAYS carrying a pear around to play with and probably eats 3-6 of them per day (that i see). Is there any reason this would be bad for her?? Any reason to worry??

Not really but a friend who has pears, apples and Italian plums in her yard learned that she needed to fence off the Italian plums so that the dogs didn't just eat them pits and all (blockage danger). And after she discovered that all of her dogs gained a ton of weight from picking and eating all of the reachable apples and pears (plus those that fell off the trees) they started wearing basket muzzles when out in that yard when the fruit was ripening.

One or two won't hurt but her dogs were eating 10 to 12 per day--and in the six weeks that fruit was ripening or ripe they would gain anywhere from 8 to 15 pounds.

Our male Dobe ate the pears off of our tree. He didn't eat that many though so no ill effects - EXCEPT when the bees were swarming around the fruit. We believe that he got stung once or twice.

I'd be worried about the amount of sugar she is getting daily from that many pears...but as far as toxicity there isn't anything that I'm aware of. At least she's getting a LOT of water intake :)
Maybe she'll grow tired of it (at least that many in a day) but I'd do a little online research and try to deter her. Maybe you can teach her to bring the pears to you :) No picking for you, fewer nom noms for her!

a pear fresh off the tree is excellent eating for dog/human. :)
Pears have allot of fiber might be a increase in Poop.?

That is what I would be afraid of. Pears always make me go! I give Baron apple pieces but not pear. Don't want to end up with loose poops.
