Does anyone know of any really good DVD's for training towards a CD?? We will be starting pre-novice classes in another week but I would still like a few good training vids.

I don't think Mensa would watch a DVD.
You might be surprised! Piper thought the Ivan Balabanov "Obedience without conflict" dvd's were top notch. Even when I left the room, she just sat there watching him in awe. It was pretty funny.

Seriously though, I really like the Ivan tapes, K9Jarko (Lacey) lent them to me, those are the methods she uses with her dogs, and she has had awesome results. I also liked the leerburg one "Training the competition heeling dog"

I think I remember looking on-line for the Ivan Balabanov dvd's and could not find them. Do you know where I could get them??

Leerburg's Dog Training DVDs and Free Dog Training ebooks Has a lot of great training DvD's. They might have what you are looking for.
I read somewhere that alot of professional dog trainers were against the leerburg training methods...

Is this just one of those agree to disagree, everyone trains differently things and similar to how some professionals hate cesar millan?

One of leerbergs articles said he didn't let people pat his puppy when he was out on walks. Wasn't sure if this meant EVER.. and wondering how that would affect socialisation?

Sure. Here a link to the video on his website. http://www.malinois.com/otvitosha/video.htm

edited to add: they are expensive, so be prepared. If you order them from his website, you get the book too. Or you can order them from Obedience Without Conflict: Tapes: J and J Dog Supplies without the book, for a little less.
I have the 2 Ivan DVD's and the book. I'll sell all of them for $35 which will include shipping within the US. The DVD's have been viewed one time and the book read once. They are like brand new and that is MUCH cheaper than getting them from his website.

If Okie-dobie doesn't want that deal I'll take it :)
