Hi everybody! I come from Finland but currently I live in Estonia where I study veterinary medicine. I have had animals all my life and at the winter 2003 I got my first dobermann bitch Aida (Hainide Berla Berrina). Unfortunately she died in a tragic car crash during summer 2004.

At this moment I've got two beautiful dobermann ladies Choco http://www.zone.ee/chocolatevl/ and Funny http://www.zone.ee/cayasavannah/ (click the "edasi kodulehele"-button)
I am going to shows with them and training them in obedience, tracking and protection work. Hopefully some day we also get to have puppies.

Well... I think my studies are going to take at least 2 or 3 more years. Depending on how hard I am able to study! It's pretty hard sometimes but also rewarding.
Wow...Finland/Estonia...welcome! TJ's right, you've got a couple real beauties there..
Two very nice dogs you have there. Who has them now or are you able to keep them with you in school?
Nice websites too!
Ludek Silhavy, that's the guy who punched his Doberman in the head with his fist at the UDC National, isn't it? Have you seen that as a part of his training methods?
Thank you all for your kind words!

To Linda H: I live near school so they don't have to be long hours by themselves. And of course I've got some free time to train them! :)

To micdobe: I have never seen Ludek to act like that. Actually it's the opposite! Every dog I've seen him working with have shown great enthusiasm and will to work. After all he is IDC's world champion 2005 and getting there requires some skills, not ability to punch dogs? I don't think that his success would be possible if he beats his dogs? I really don't believe in beating dogs and I would never ever train with a helper who uses that kind of methods! Perhaps it was some other guy or just some mean rumour? I really don't know for sure and that s why I have chosen to believe only what I see personally!
It's not a rumor, it's a known fact he did it in front of a lot of people. The dog was Alex Black Sagitta.

If you believe only what you see personally, you must have a hard time in school, since it involves text books, doesn't it?

You can check with people who saw him punch the dog at the UDC trial, but then you wouldn't believe them, because you didn't see it personally, and you could probably read about it in the record, but you wouldn't believe that either.

Nevertheless, you are training with a helper who did make a fist and hit his dog in the head with it, I think it was about three times, but that may not be right. It caused a lot of consternation at the trial, since it was held in conjunction with the DPCA National, and the hope was to make a positive introduction to schutzhund for the DPCA people who had never seen it before.

I was just wondering if he does it all the time, and if it's accepted practice.

Yeas it does and textbooks are not based on rumours...

Anyway I have never seen him to act like that and I really hope that I never will. I promise that the first time I see him doing something like that I'll find a new helper.
I wasn't asking if you'll find a new helper. I was asking if he makes a habit of that, and if that's a recognized training method where he's from.

What I said was not a rumor, and you should not keep saying it is. I can give you the name of someone who was there and who saw it.
I really do not keep saying that it is a rumour and I believe I answered your question by sayig: "I have never seen Ludek to act like that. Actually it's the opposite! Every dog I've seen him working with have shown great enthusiasm and will to work."

You really have to understand that for me that information is just something I read from some forum. I don't know who you are. But I'm hoping to get to know you! :)
If you want the name of someone who saw him do it I will give it to you.

You won't know "who" I am, any more than I know who you are. How would that be possible. We are on different continents, not going to meet.
What beautiful dogs. Welcome to the forum.. I guess I should say the dobermantalk international forum. we are getting members from all over the world!! I look forward to learning more about you and your beautiful dogs.
