Hi im Derek, new to the forum and the breed. This is my pup Shredder. He is almost 14 weeks old.

I wanted to get some opinions about his ears. We have been posting for about 5 weeks now and i was curious if they look like they are doing well. My only concern is when he is at high attention his ears start to point inward and almost touch at the tips. Should i be taping the ears in a different position on the post. I just want to make sure im doing it right before its to late. Any help would be great.

Thanks everyone.

These are when i have his attention. Sorry, pics are not great.

i dont put the brace across, a vet in edmonton where i got the dog did the crop but i live in calgary and the vet that does crops here took the stitches and showed me how to post, she said not to do the bridge because they need to learn to use the muscles in their head to hold their ears up.

aww he's cute! He's going to grow up to be a very handsome guy.
I think there was a thread on here somewhere that showed how to make a post with a bumper, its a small piece of foam attached to the rod, to help with the ears tipping in like that, try looking in the sticky for ear posting methods, and as was said, dont use the bridge so his muscles will work to pull them up, the bumper will help get rid of the pocket and make them a bit straighter from what I understand.

That would be if he had pockets and I don't see pockets there - of course photos from the back would help clarify that. I think they just need to be pulled into the 10am 2pm position as Darkevs said. :)

hey everyone. a bit of an update. shredder is 6 1/2 months now. i started posting at the 10 and 2 position like suggested and it worked great.

now im wondering if im done posting or if i should continue. his ears are great when he wants them to be but other times they are down. i have not been able to find any info on if this is how they should be or not.

here he is when i have his attention.

and here he is with his ears down

he does this when he is being pet or sometimes just when he is playing.
any insight would be great.

I like his collar! Very cute name, Shredder. :)
I agree with Sinister, a cute name AND a handsome boy!!

Now in hindsight, I probably should've named my doberboy "Chewy" or "Pokey" or "Hyper Bad Ass" :lol2:

His ears look pretty good. When he runs do they flop around A LOT or just a little? If they seem to be done then leave them unposted but keep a close eye on them and as soon as they start to droop (if they do) post them again for a couple more weeks.
