New litter in the spring.....time to convince the husband :)

1009 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  RemRem's Mom
I just talked to my breeder and found out she will most likely be breeding in January or February so the little ones would be ready around June after their ears are cropped. I want a sweet lil black girl that I can show and give Remington a companion. I believe I am the first on the list so now I have to convince my husband its a great idea. Remington has done so well with our foster girl and I'm going to feel bad when she leaves to go to her forever home. I wanted to wait tell he is 2 but he will be a year and a half so it'll still be okay. Now it's time to think of some arguments any thoughts???? Lol ;)

BYB breeder or what?

Not sure, saw 51 hits and no comments. Just wondered.

Why would you do it twice.

Hope I'm all wrong, and just tired....:)
No this is a reputable breeder that I got Remington from. I want to start showing and want to get on the list to get a black female. We are just trying to decide if next year is a good time or if I'll wait till 2013 to get her. I have a mare that's due to foal in June and my husband does not want me over whelmed with two babies to take care of, so we are still discussing on what we are going to do. No matter what I just wanted to let my breeder know so she could get me on the waiting list.

What breed? :) & who's the sire? Just wondering. I have all geldings and a very ugly built pony mare. So breeding is not in my future unless my mare excels in some sort of sport.

Quarter horse paints and the sire is Strait Texas Kaliman. This is my once in a lifetime foal since raising a baby is a lot of work. Also I'm not getting any younger and getting bucked off hurts a lot more now and the healing time takes longer lol. I'm breeding my barrel horse in hopes of getting another great performance horse. My barrel horse is good but tends to be a little hot headed at times. The sire is more mellow but comes from champion performance blood lines so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the perfect mix.

I'd personally wait. If your boy is only going to be 18 months old he'll probably still be quite a bit of work, especially because he'll be at the age where he's pushing boundaries. I personally think at least two years apart, and preferably three.

Yeah the more we talk about it the more positives come up about waiting till 2013. He will be around two and a half then depending on when she has her next litter. Remington and I will begin competing in obedience and agility next summer so the timing won't be right for a new puppy.
