I think the best kind of training resource to find is to find a good training school or club. Books are great in learning how to train your dog, but a good Obedience class will teach you how to train your dog. About 70% of these classes is about the owners and how we contribute to a dogs behavior. Once we, as owners, learn what to do and what not to do, we can better train our dogs.
