For the very first time my doberman gave the birth to six young ones! Some dog specialist told me to not to go near her or try to lift the litters but day past i saw them again three of them were died, then i asked another doctor he told me that first time the female don't know how to feed the young ones, so i am using cow milk using dropper to feed the remaining three for one day, tomorrow i will, with my hand feed them through their mother's teet, I WANT TO ASK IS IT OK TO FEED THEM WITH COW MILK USING DROPPER AT ONE DAY???? Please i am really conscious about the remaining three, i lost three chocolate coloured doberman, i am said and worried for remaining three???

I don't think much of your "specialist". A bitch and pups should always be closely observed, to avoid problems like this.

If the bitch doesn't have any milk, the pups really need special puppy formula. Cows milk just won't be good enough. Goats milk is better than cows milk, but formula is best.

Raw goat's milk!! This is what I used to hand rear my puppies when Zenny wasn't producing enough milk. Cow's milk will give them runny poop that will lead to dehydration and death.

I'm giving them the benefit of a doubt that they are probably not in the US, going on their user name and their sentence structure. Not all countries are as advanced in animal husbandry. At least they are asking about how best to care for the pups.

I tend to automatically think "troll" with these unbelievable type threads.

i dont get how if someone is capable of signing up on a Dobermann forum and asking for help you can think you could just sway a breeding with no advice until after birth its the 1st litter, research it even if it is solely on internet forums

too me its like saying "we have just had a baby how do you breast feed?" well surely you would make sure you could keep your child alive before you gave birth.

Would you not make sure you knew the potential problems of dogs breeding/having pups before you did it even if it is BYB, even if it was be solely for profit you would expect to at least make sure you maximised the profit by ensuring they live

i think im too frustrated by the failure to post prior too birth, these are lives and the OP should have been more conscious from before birth not having to play catch up with the remaining pups, hope they get proper care now the OP has some advice and they get homed properly, this is a poor start too life that research which is only being done after birth could have prevented

i can understand what you are saying, dogs are easy too fall for and when presented with the opportunity to acquire one sometimes people just go for it #

Last activity suggests he hasnt even been back on to check replies....i would have been sitting here refreshing

would be good if the OP came on and gave us some more info on the situation on the whole and kept us up to date, as much as i have had a rant i dont want the OP to think we dont want to help him put it right

OP, what country are you in? Do you have access to a quality veterinarian?

Thankx all

:thanx:Rosemary for your generous and kind complements it really helped me in knowing much about the young one's.
I am a software engineer and does not know anything about the dogs, nor i was interested in knowing them. I had a dog phobia one year ago:roflmao: But a recent incident really take me to that. I had a brother who was really interested in dogs and was also an expert in this domain, he died in a road side accident and no one else is their to look after his bitch! I am the one who is taking care of her.
On saturday 13th of april she gave birth to young ones and i was not in the home. I heard that their gestation period is 62 or 63 days but she gave birth at 56th day i already recorded the date of the matting.
Night when i went to give her a meal she had four little puppies but three of them were died, i dont know why, but i can say because she didn't let them feed. Next day there were more three and lift them up and put them in a carton box. And feed them with the cow milk using dropper. The goat's milk was unavailable in our area at that time.
I gave them milk after every hour but after 6 hours two of them were also dead, That's hurt me badly and i left the home sadly and walked far away in a loneliness ... Now only one is remaining. I have no experience what to do with him. What to give him, what not?? That's why i signed up at the top community site of the doberman. Only one link helped me in knowing much about the things that are required by me.

I'm very sorry that this was handed to you and in such a manner.

Do you know of anyone who has experience with hand-raising puppies?

Please seek out goat's milk or puppy formula. If you do not, the puppy will die of dehydration.

Please keep the puppy warm.

Please keep a close eye on the mother.

Please seek out a reputable veterinarian.

Where are you located?

I am from Pakistan. I have an access to a vet through phone only! He instructs me on phone!
But his instructions doesn't make it happened! ALL 6 LITTERS DIED!!!! :'(
She gave birth at 56th day of gestation!! Is it normal for the pups?? They were so weak that they even can't crawl towards the mother's mammary glands for milk! I spent one day in her cage and feed the two with manually! She is producing a lot of milk! But i don't know why the last two died though i let them feed with the bitch's milk manually..

I am so sorry about your puppies. I imagine you are very heartbroken. It may the puppies were just born early and not healthy enough from the start to survive. At 56 days I imagine the have very little chance from the start. Don't beat yourself up. You seem to have tried your best and sometimes nature just takes over. It can be hard to hand raise any animal under the best of circumstances. With what you had on hand and the information you were given they were just to fragile and too early.

There are uncountable Dogs lovers in Pakistan. Our country have top dog breeders who have won many competitions in the world!
I have access to many of them, i told you that i was not home and no one was there to look after the bitch! I thought she will give them a birth at 62nd day but it was 56th day that's why i was not prepare for that and in result couldn't saved the lives! Next time i will let her to the top breeder located in our area and will keep her to him during the breeding season! Also , i am in experience till now but i have decided to stick to the dogs because it takes my passion! You know, a person learns from the wounds he take... It was the first ever breed! i learned a lot from this and will continue to post to this forum to learn more about the dogs!

THankx for your generosity hbwright! YEah i did my best, i have spent one day in her cage caring her young ones, diverging my back bone, which is still not become straight till now :)...
GOod hopes for the next breed! Learned a lot from this! :)

I'm sorry about the loss of your puppies. :( When puppies get a rough start in life it's extremely difficult to save them even with appropriate vet care. I hope poor mama dog is doing ok.

I don't know how up to standard your country is as far as health testing goes but I urge you to at least read up on genetic health issues that dobermans have before you breed your girl again. I'm glad you have plans to ensure a similar tradegy doesn't happen again. I hope the top breeder has your girls well being as their top priority while she's there.

I think it's cool someone posting from so far away.

Read and learn all you can here- you could make a difference with improving animal husbandry by helping others learn from this tragedy.

Don't forget the culture with animals is likely very different from here to there.

Also very sorry about the loss of all those puppies. I can only imagine that as an awful experience one would never forget.
