Firsty hello this is my first post here

recently i obtained a rescue puppy (allegedly 4 months at the time) and they told me he was a collie cross,

at first i accepted this as this is my first dog and i didnt know any different,

however i know am starting to see that he is more doberman like than collie even though he is black and white

whenever i read about dobermans on the internet his behaviour is normally extremely similar,

i have also seen a picture of a collie cross doberman bitch at this link:
http://www.warrenphotographic.co.uk/mdh/01079.htm

which also looks like him

obviously u cant tell me for sure without seeing him in real life but
im just curious,

not that it even matters what he is as i love him to bits
i just would like the opinion of doberman owners

they said he was 4 months but couldnt say for sure as they rescued him,
but we feel he was nearer 3 due to the stages of puppy development + teething etc..

anyways here are two pictures of my young chap there not that clear but he does the thing where the front two feet are together sort of thing normally and is quite protective at night near strangers

im just curious that is all,
but this seemed a good place to ask and maybe u can tell me if im miles off the scent of what he could be crossed with :)

many thanks

Hi Jet,

Welcome, I think he looks like a lab mix myself. Although it's hard to tell in the pictures there so dark. You can guess till the cows come home and like you said it doesnt really matter does it ?
Are you doing any training with him ?

To me, he looks like a short-coated Border Collie/Labrador mix but it's hard to tell when they're pups. Whatever he is, he's adorable.

=)

ok, i dont think he is a pit mix, he isnt really like em at all,
or lab as he isnt that chunky and his structure just isnt really like em

i think he is more doberman i mean, the way he runs is like a doberman
he acts very similar to this one here
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4101893417576779399&q=doberman

and he cocks his paw like it too,

maybe im taking it to far but im curious thats all :)

few more pics of him i have uploaded :) if u wish to see :)

The video clip is of LoKi! He's a star LOL

I'll be honest, I don't see much Dobie in him but I don't see much of any particular breed except maybe border collie. My initial guess was of a border collie pit cross because he looks just like Daisy, my old landlords border collie pit cross... But like you've said, it doesn't really matter since you adore him reguardless :) He sure is a cutie whatever he is :)

Too funny!
I had to reply and dig this back up.
I didn't even know that the video finally made it to the internet. i did not like googles method of uploading because there was no way to tell it made it.

That was when loKi was still a puppy, I need to get a new one since his speed has increased significantly.

I think he looks kinda slender for a pitty cross, but who knows what's mixed up in there and showing up! Maybe! He really does resemble that dobe/collie cross in the first pic. It's hard to tell sometimes with even first generation mixes, much less on down the generation line.

Without a doubt he can bring a smile to anyone's face! He is a keeper!
