Morons I am surrounded by morons (rant)

The other day my friend and I are out walking our dogs, Toby was on his leash walking beside me and being a very good boy walking to heel just as his Uncle Tucker (my friends boxer male) was in the other hand.
As we were walking past the "Frenchmans house" as it is known, (mainly because the guy that owns it is French, lol). His dogs bounded up to his fence and started barking. (We were a good 30 metres away on the public road by the way). My friend had hold of 2 of her dogs whilst 2 more were walking beside her off leash. We told all the dogs to 'leave it' our command for them to ignore etc and they didnt make a muff, all just walked past the daft French dogs who were positively salivating to get at ours. (In the past 2-3 weeks his dogs have been out of the compound and have attacked us, even when we were no where near their house. On 2 occasions we have been the other side of the canal over a kilometre away. on each occasion however they have come perilously close to biting both our dogs and us humans, despite having had no provocation, it turns out he lets them out to exercise themselves). Anyhow, just as we get past his house.

BANG!

As if someone had let off a shotgun or something.
Absolutely stunned we stopped, was someone shooting at us? Tucker (my friends boxer) was terrified and tried to bolt, he has been shot at in the past, whilst Toby practically jumped into my arms. We shouted and next thing we saw him sheepishly looking round the corner. My friend marched up to the front of his driveway, still on the public path and demanded to know what the heck was that noise. Was he shooting a shotgun at us or something?
Now this guy speaks no Spanish, or English and whilst I learnt French at school it is limited. So he called his friend from the house who speaks a tiny bit of Spanish who explained it wasnt a shotgun but rather a firework.

WTF! This man is throwing fireworks over the wall at us. He then proceeded to let his dogs out and guess what, they went for us. As he stood by and watched only reacting when I threatened to kick them from here to breakfast.

At no point did any of our dogs, bless them, go for his, they all came close and didnt even snap at the dogs as they barked and came so close to biting us I could feel the air being pushed past my leg.

What a moron. If Toby (Doberman) and Tucker (Boxer) alongside my friends Malinois, Pitbull, Boxer (all bitches) and her Sharpei cross (male) had decided to go in no matter how we held on to them the Frenchmans dogs would have been toast.

He wouldnt apologise, or even acknowledge what he had done was wrong or irresponsible.

What the heck do you do with folk like this?

Find a different walking route. No point in subjecting you or your dogs to an idiot who has no remorse or regret for their actions.

It's unbelievable the idiots that you come across in life. Just take a different route, no point in getting stressed over something that is suppose to be calming (the walk, not the fire works lol).

I don't know what life is like in Spain, but could you call the police? Walk a different route? Carry mace? That guy sounds crazy!

Kudos to your dogs being so well behaved

We have what we call a circuit walk, it lasts about 2 hours, even when we don't go anywhere near his house, his dogs are harrassing us. Today we were down by the canal (used for irrigation) when suddenly his dogs appeared at head height, (the embankment is lower than the surrounding land) and nearly took my friends head off. This was the last straw, my friend marched off and went to his house and had a right old ding dong row with him, she was shouting in Spanish and English and he was shouting in French. Anyhow he has been warned now by me in my bad French anymore problems and we will denuncia him, (report) to the courts (where you go, not to the police). He seemed to get the gist and said sorry, he then picked up a stick and started braying the crud out of the dogs, we had to stop him.

We do go on many different walks, this one however, is what we call our safe walk, in that we don't meet hunters on it as hunting is not allowed amongst the orange groves, which is the route it takes. If we know there are hunters up in the hills we take the safer option, thing is with his dogs it isnt safe anymore. I just cannot understand what this man is 'on' he knows letting his dogs out will get him into trouble, he knows setting off fireworks and throwing them over the wall will too. You have to have a licence to set them off and believe you me they are not handed out to folk willy nilly.

We are planning now to go off into the mountains this coming week, hopefully the hunters will be at home and we can walk in peace.

Stress who needs it.

I feel bad for the guys dogs, too bad they dont just keep running when he lets them out and never return, he sounds as if he doesnt treat them with much respect either.

Urgh, some people! Imagine you'd got hit by a firework?

I'm not sure if I can suggest this and not have people look in horror, but I was you I'd be carrying bear spray for protection. I dont know the legality of it in Spain, its definitely illegal in the UK.

I would give a great big face full of it to someone who was throwing fireworks at me...or any other dodgy looking man for that matter! As a woman walking in the woods with a bunch of potential hunter creeps, I wouldnt feel safe without it.

Carry a gun?

Yeah, I'd say take that part of the loop out of your circuit. That sucks. I would not have threatened the courts, I would have gone immediately there.
I am hoping he got the message, though with my French he probably thought I was ordering cheese on toast lol.

I can by law carry a form of Mace, but I am not sure if I am allowed to use it unless he specifically attacks my person. The law here is a bit vague. With regards the hunters, I have to wear a flourescant jacket and wear a bell, just like my dog. They are nutters, this year alone at least half a dozen dogs have been killed in this region by their own owners shooting them by mistake and last year a man was killed by his friend who shot into a bush because he thought the thing making the noise behind it was a wild boar. He blew his friends head clean off.
Thing is it isn't just out and about that one is in danger, I have been hit by the end pellets when hunters fired in the direction of the house and I happened to be outside. I had to go to hospital to have the shot removed from the upper part of my arm, admittedly it was only a couple of pieces but I was not a happy camper to say the least, it hurt like billy-oh.
