Last night for our nightly rub down, I noticed a hard lump on Ashers front ankle. I made an appointment with the vet to have them look at it and get it checked. The earliest was tomorrow morning, so we will wait until then. I am sure that it is nothing and I am making a huge deal about it. :praying: We will check to make sure. Wish us luck and hope I am overprotective.

Thank you all. I appreciate everything.

CM-I will keep that in mind and bring that up to him. Thanks for the advice.

Good luck, DD & Asher. Here's hoping it's just a boo-boo and nothing more. (It's probably from where Hulk-Doodle body-slammed him against the dresser when you weren't looking.) Getting it checked out is not being overprotective...it's being the good mom you are. Paws crossed here, too.

Here's an update. I just got back from the vet. I opted to have it taken out. I didn't want to have to wait around and watch him lick at it like he is wonderful at doing and watch it grow and get so bad that they would have to use an anesthetic. With his heart, that is obviously not the route to go. So, instead of a needle biopsy, we just removed it and sent the whole thing in for a biopsy. Good thing. The vet came back back in to show it to me and told me that it was a smart choice. It turned out to be not a cyst but a tumor. So, we will wait for the results to see what it is. It won't be in until towards the end of next week. So I will be biting my nails until then. Hoping for the best.

Wishing you and Asher nothing but good thoughts.

On the same topic, when should we be concerned about any lumps and bumps we find on our dogs? I wouldn't wait if I found something hard close to bone, but what if you feel something pea-sized under the skin, not attached to muscle?

Asher trying to imitate a race horse. Poor boy.

JM-I would be concerned with any lump that I found on my dog. But that is me. A concerned person. The lump that I found on Asher was not connected to his bone. It was under his skin and still moveable. Just not moveable from the skin, if that makes sense. It wasn't a large lump either. Not even as big as a dime. My vet looked at it and grinned. But he was sure happy that we did take it out when we did after the fact. I would get anything new looked at personally. See what it turns out to be. I'd rather nip it in the butt first than have to worry later that I could have done something sooner and didn't.

Edited to add: I'm pretty sure I pay for all of their car payments. Maybe even boats. :)
