Hi everyone. Since my previous post, a lot has happened. I stumbled across a dobie who had been abandoned at a doggy daycare, the daycare owner is a close friend of mine and notified me once they realized the previous owner was not coming back for the dog. I went to see her one night and brought her home a few days later, she was malnourished, full of worms, and a serious ear infection. Her previous owners had also kept both a shock and a choke collar on her for most of the day, and left her with an large irritated patch of skin on her neck. The fur took months of supplementary coconut oil and fish oil to grow back, and is now as shiny as the rest of her. Her ears were not only infected on the inside, but the outside as well, since she had a botched ear job and her previous owners never took her ear posts off for a month or so. The ears were torn and caused her extreme pain, there was a sore that had developed into a thick chunk of cartilage as the ear tried to repair itself numerous times. Her name used to be Lucifer, quite unfitting for a sweet girl such as her, so I decided to name her Lou. Since coming home with me, she has been thriving; In the first week I took care of her numerous medical issues, dedicated a lot of time to give her proper training, and give to her the love affection that she has missed out on. She is now a bubbly little girl who now knows all sorts of tricks (she didn't even know sit when we first brought her home at 8 months old), and she's also recently started to wag her tail. Unfortunately, a few days ago, Lou broke the baby gate that leads into the laundry room and was unsupervised for less than 30 seconds. In this time, she managed to swallow 4 socks that were in a covered laundry basket. At the time I was under the assumption that she only ate 1 sock, because I only saw a small one being swallowed, and she was only in the room for such a short period of time that I did not think it possible to have swallowed more. I tried to pull it out of her mouth but unfortunately she was too quick. She passed 2 of the socks the next day, and at the time I thought that was the worst of it. A day later she began to become lethargic, and that's when I knew something was wrong. I took her to the vet first thing in the morning and was suggested emergency surgery. I went through with it of course, and fortunately the surgery was a success. She is currently recovering at home under 24/7 supervision. As a college student, it has been hard for me to keep up with all her vet bills. Lou's previous owner abandoned her with a tremendous amount of health issues(she had various infections in her ear canal, on the scars from her botched ear cropping/posting, severe skin infection on her neck from repeated shock collar use, and a uterine infection). The vet bill from her first and second vet consultation was already a burden, and I did not want to ask for donations, but this time the cost is almost 4 times the amount of the original ones, and I truly would appreciate some aid, as I paid for this bill with money that is supposed to go towards my tuition (I am currently on financial hold) and most of my living expenses that I have saved up. I work very hard to provide her with all the love and affection she missed out on with her previous owner, and give her the life she deserves. I have attached photos of Lou's current state and the vet bill from this surgery. Please share and/or donate if you can, I will appreciate it greatly. Pictures of her will be on her gofundme page, can't seem to upload anything on this post. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks again in advance for donating/sharing!!
