A reputable breeder will have the ears cropped and posted before the puppy comes home.
If the puppy you're getting doesn't have it's ears cropped, I would be very careful. I'm in Lexington as well, and I've seen some atrocious crops. I would've recommended Sam Grant in Cincinnati, but he has retired. I honestly don't know of any other good croppers in the area. Hopefully someone else can chime in. I would leave them natural rather than run the risk of an ugly crop.

Hopefully I'll see ya around Lex sometime.

Is this the same puppy you posted about before?

Like others posted, a good reputable vet will have ears done already.

I'm getting a puppy and need a referal to a good vet that does dobie ears.

Aoosta
There is only 3 croppers i would recommend that would be close to you. 2 are in Ohio and do show crop. The 1 in Hebron Ky does a nicer pet crop than most.If you are interested you can Email me and I would be happy to take with you about them

[email protected]

HOWEVER, If you puppy is not coming cropped or ear cropping is an EXTRA fee your breeder is not reputable. And I would recommend that you keep looking for the perfct pup.

We're still looking for a pup or a good rescue.

When push came to shove, I asked to see the vet records on the puppy and they wouldnt allow us to see them or speak to the vet. So deal was off. We're still looking. We did look at a sweet red and rust 2 year old female at the Petsmart this weekend. She might be cat agressive but they really couldnt tell. The cat was in a carrier and the dobie pawed the crate and chewed the front alittle but no growls or acts like she was going to attack, but no stubby wag. If she's there next week we're going to look her over again. She's a petite 40 pounds of fighting fury. LOL Very snuggly and rubbbed herself all over like a cat.

Glad you passed on the puppy. Is the 2 year old with a rescue organization?

If you decide to look for a puppy, you might send Michelle a PM (ACarrigDobermans is her username) and ask for breeder recommendations in your area.

Red doberman

I am also in Lexington, and saw the red female at petsmart Sat. afternoon... I thought she looked pretty good... but only spent a few minutes with her
Under her tail and on her chest upper area had alot of scabs and hair loss. GODS I'd love to have her, but I'm got a 6 year old cat and a 6 year old chi and they need me too.
