For all of you Juno followers, and working dog enthusiast, I have some fantastic news!
I brought Juno to Schutzhund Village, for a two-day training. Yesterday I had her meet everyone at the club, walk around, and watch some Obedience go on. I had to leave before protection, and Armin wanted to evaluate Juno. So I came back this afternoon to watch the other handlers work their dogs and work Juno with a professional for the first time.
Well, when I got there they put my name down and I waited. Guess how many Dobermans worked today? NINE, 2 GSDs, 2 Mals, and 2 Presa Canarios (they are BEASTS, and their handlers are awesome). It was an awesome experience. I also saw a GSD run her practice SchH2 pattern. It was my first time seeing sport dogs work.
*Note, since there are so many Dobes no one really batted an eye at Juno.
Anyways, I get Juno on the field. Armin starts her on the Flirt Pole to rev her up, then goes to the rag. She's getting nice strong bites, and I'm proud. I've never seen her so driven. Armin turns his back and walks away to get a pillow.. She started barking! Well, barked. I've never gotten her to bark when playing with her. He teases her with the pillow and teases her, gets a few good bites.. The he slips it on his arm. Whoa, okay. It takes her a second to understand and hold, but she does it. Okay, very good. i didn't think we'd get that far. He has me take her back so the next handler can go. As I'm walking away, another Doberman handler says: "You have a very impressive puppy!"
Walking back to sit down, everyone is complimenting on how nice of a puppy she is! Ron, a GSD handler (who often talks about his recently retired 17 times SchH3 dog, who worked at a international level..) was absolutely blown away.
Guess who's tickled pink?
I have no pictures to share. This stupid computer is stupid
lame::thumbsdownbig
, so I have to get to a Strarbucks later this week to upload pictures of the other dogs... And my 10 minute video of juno working.
We are going back next Sunday to do more. If any VA people are interested, please PM me! I have a boost of confidence now! She is the perfect first Dobermann, and working dog.
