Well I took some pictures of Kaiser this morning.

Kaiser in front of the Chrismas tree.

Kaiser with some snowmen on the porch.

And after several attempts at pictures he loses interest to something down the street.....

Cute pics. I like the snowmen in front of the house.
Cute pictures, I love the one with him and the snowman. It looks like he sitting with his family!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you have your dog by a street with no leash OR collar on??
You're right. And you can also see how busy my street is.
The one with him on the porch...........he looks SOOOOO tall, it's cute.

Did you paint your porch candy cane colors for the holidays, or is it always pink and lime green? :) Sorry, I'm just teasin' :)

Hey, is Kaiser chipped?
Well i'm still looking for a few more pics to complete the DT christmas vid if you would like to add Kaiser to it!!.

I see three homes tightly packed just in that picture. I assume the same number is on your side of the street, which makes six. Most Americans have at least two cars. The whole street must be tightly packed with homes. Sounds busy enough to me.

Regardless of “busyness” on a residential street I wouldn’t let my young male puppy off leash without any ID in any situation except a training class in a very controlled environment and at a securely fenced in area, it just isn’t worth the risk.

Obedience training at that young age can fail, and your dog could run off after an animal or bitch in heat or just because he is feeling his oats and needs to run, run, run and then he could become stolen (some people even steal dogs out of fences when the dogs are kept out there for periods of time unsupervised), in a shelter (hopefully no-kill), or injured by a car or ran off further by people that are scared of "big black dogs", Dobermans included.

Many dogs with high prey drive (like Dobes) can run off after smaller animals getting lost and/or get hit by cars each month. Or people might have to swerve off of the road not to hit your dog and hit something else, injuring themselves and damaging their car. Or he could get into someone else's property and eat something dangerous without your immediate knowledge, like antifreeze. Or other loose dogs will come up to you loose dog and then you don’t have control and serious accidents that are sometimes fatal can occur then. Or neighbors might get sick of seeing the “scary” Doberman run at large in the neighborhood and take matters in their own hands. Or you can get fined for letting him off leash in your front yard. I am sure you live in city limits from the look of the picture and there are leash laws for a good reason. To protect people and their pets. Your dog could be killed if he got loose and bite someone and didn’t have current rabies information. I could go on, but basically my long point is there are many situations that could happen.

I can totally understand off leash (not no ID or collar) in a huge nature area with a good recall, but never ever a puppy in a urban, city, or street area for common sense reasons.
Accidents are just that, accidents. No one ever means for them to happen, they happen in spilt seconds and not usually on purpose. That is why responsible owners take steps to protect their pets with indoor housing, crates, fences, ID’s, and leashes.

I take the time to say all of this only because I care about your puppy dog, you have to take steps to protect him, which is our job as owners of course. And I know you would be crushed if anything happened to him and you could have easily prevented it. He is very cute.

Yes, it is.
I have a relative who thinks leashes and collars aren't for dogs b/c they "know" their boundaries. He lives in the country. Unfortunately, he has gone thru three dogs now in the past few years, two were ran over, the other ran off. It is really sad.
A friend in college years ago had a small breed puppy, she didn't live on a busy street, her neighborhood only had 6 homes that were spread out. It was winter and she was cold and let the dog out to potty without watching, and one of her friend's pulled up and ran over her puppy. I know this isn't typical, but things happen.
Oh those are so cute.. I would do some of my gang but 4 dogs in one photo, I think I would lose it before I got the photo.. well maybe I will try tomorrow..

Does your relative STILL think that leashes aren't for dogs?

What about in Counties where they strictly enforce leash-laws and will take your dog to the pound if caught without one?

Leash and collar and for the dogs safety, the same as putting your name on your luggage before you fly and just like crating your dog when you're gone for a while. Might be uncomfortable but the unoticeable uncomfort is better than being a tri-pod or dead.
Oh Kaiser is too cute, I love the one with the Snowman family!

I couldn't agree more. It only takes a second for something to go terribly wrong. Why even take the chance with your precious pup?
If you're going to go collarless, at least have him chipped. I've got so many tags, tattoos and chips on Yogi, that nobody could ever take him if he ran away accidentally. In fact, I'm going to velcro a big red neon sign to his body that says "the the heck away from my freakin' dog!" :) ha ha
Gotta love the snowman picture... Listen all you snow people, I want to see more snowmen <stomps feet>, so please give us sand people our snow fix! (Plus Brum could probably use some in his video.)
