I'm exhausted, but since a couple of folks on the forum already know, I'd better post a thread introducing our new puppy, Leon! He is officially Protea's Bring It On Home.

I drove down to pick him up from Helia yesterday. He is adorable, Richter and Sypha are not sure what they think about this development yet, but we'll all figure it out.

Ahhhh--a blue collar (and blue cup) boy--my favorite colors. Huge congratulations MeadowCat.

I'll be that Richter figures it out first--(he's much more the "go along, get along type" and Sypha will no doubt have her nose out of joint until he's big enough to play hard with her. (Until then she's not doubt going to be hoping if she ignores him or speaks harshly to him he'l go away.

No such luck Syphy--he's there to stay--you'll have to get over it.

Take lots of pictures--they grow up soooo fast.

Well, Bug, Richter likes him just fine outside - he has play bowed and been pretty welcoming out there, but he finds Leon a bit stressful in the house. Leon has a LOT to say when he's put in the crate and doesn't want to be in there. I forgot just how loud puppies can be - ha! Richter doesn't like disruption to his routine, so that makes him a little unhappy. He paces around or goes into another room in a huff. And he was already having issues with eating in the last week, and this did NOT help that, so I'm a little stressed about it.

Sypha was pretty good last night, but it was late when we got home. Today she's doing....as well as I could hope for. She's pretty good in the house, especially when the x-pen is in use :) Outside, if she can ignore him and pretend he doesn't exist, all is fine. However, we've had some snarls...Leon dared to try and sniff EXACTLY where she was sniffing, and how dare he? He also jumped on her on our porch going inside, and that was worth a huge growl. He's kind of learning that he needs to give her space. He does try SO hard, though...he has his little butt in the air wiggling, and she is like, no sir. We'll see.

LOL! Sounds like it's going along right on schedule with both of them. Leon is going to learn very quickly that the sweatshirt logo that says "Dogs drool...bitches rule!" is all too true.

Oh yeah--puppies and crates--been there and done that--several times. I recommend ear plugs and patience for loud complaints about being crated (there is always suspicion that every one else is having FUN!)

Puppies--all puppies think that play bows will be the appeasement answer to everything.

Have any of the cats come around for an introduction yet (I figure the kitties are smarter than that)...

He's sure a handsome puppy.

Hi from Toronto! Our 5 months old is also called Leon:) first time seeing a dobe with the same name
I told MeadowCat when she told me his name was Leon that he was named for my rescue cat--Leon--so I'm sure that's how your Leon ended up named for my cat too. My Leon would be so proud to have a couple of Dobe puppies named for him. <VBG>

Shockingly, Tillie was the bravest of all the cats. She was right up in his face last night. Probably plotting his death, but still. This morning Gus was a bit stressed and didn't finish his breakfast, but hopefully everything will settle down quickly.

LOL Leon is just to cute ! Love the pictures of him !!!

How long was your trip Meadow ?

Glad your all home and having fun now : )
We met up in Iowa - it was a three owner meeting, so very fun. A friend of mine up here actually has Leon's sister so we drove down with my mom - it was maybe around 5 1/2 hours down, a little longer back - I had to kick my mom off driving the way back after a little while because she was driving too slow :) I'm not sure we're having TONS of fun, but some. Puppies are hard work. Fun, yes, but also work! :ROFLMAO:

Oh my, he looks like fun. Once you get a full night's sleep, that is. You know, in a few months or so.

Congrats!
Yes, sleep. Such a lovely thing, isn't it?

I remember this all so well when Zany first got here, and actually some days Zyan is still hoping she'll leave. But overall, it was pretty short-lived, thankfully. They are 2 spastic peas in a super crazy pod. I look forward to the day when you and I are both laughing at how the first few months of puppyhood were ;-)
