My name is Jessica and I lost my baby girl, Naiya, a year ago. She was 4yrs old and had something wrong with her throat. I sold my show car to take her somewhere out of state to have her cared for and they couldnt help her either. She had a knot in her throat and it restricted her from raising her head. Her sphincter valve in her throat was relaxed and would not close and she could have aspirated on me at any given time. Med Vet finally told me that her muscles in her throat where deteriorating and pulling against each other forming this knot that was also making it as hard as a rock and was restricting her from raising her head. They told me that she wouldnt get worse right away but that eventually she would have to have a feeding tube in her stomach and I knew that before it got to that, I wasnt going to let her suffer. Time came and it was the worst thing in my life, My Naiya girl was my hero and truly my best friend. She helped me through an awful divorce and she never left my side. Though she had her stubborn moments she was still an amazing girl. I always knew when she was up to something when she would peel around the corner and just stair at me, and she was spoiled she would never lay on the floor unless someone else was and then she still wasnt on the floor she was in their lap. If you were in her seat she would stair at you until you moved and if you didnt she would sit so close to you inching her way to that spot that you had to move. I still find myself in tears because I miss her so. I I told myself that I wouldnt have another dobe, but in my heart I knew that I loved this breed and she wouldnt want that.

a few months ago i came across an add on the internet with pups and i decided to call about them and just see and talk about what I wanted to do. Being a little over a year since I lost her I thought to myself am I ready for this. Im glad I did because he has helped me so much, not to forget Naiya but to remember all the fun I had when i first found Naiya and how much I loved her. Im still hurting and i pray eveyday that it gets better and that I did the right thing. But with Draven at my side its a lot better. He is so much fun and full of life, and in some ways I see my baby girl again. However he will be way bigger than she ever was, as she weighed only 65lbs and was all muscle, he is only 3months old and weighs 35lbs and is almost as tall as my pit.

Thank you for allowing me to share my story as it helps me grow each day. Im glad that I found this forum to help me on my way. thanks again

Welcome to DT from Oklahoma sorry to hear of your girls passing. You said you have a pit they are great dogs is it a female ? Just wanted you to be aware you usually have major problems having two males especially when the Doberman male reaches maturity. Good Luck with your new boy.
Welcome from Florida. When we lost our two other dogs, we couldn't wait and got a new puppy the next day. They never take the place of the beloved dog that just passed away, but the fill the void. The house is much to empty without a dog to make the noise.

Good luck with your new doberman. It easier to heal when you can cry into the face of your new bundle of joy.
Welcome to DT and a big wave from Mississauga, Ontario. I am sorry for your loss of Naiya. She may be gone but she lives on in your heart. I am glad you have Draven now but he is different and I know you are not simply replacing him with Naiya.
Sorry for your loss. Sadly I like many have had 2 dobes cross over, its never easy and there's always tears of sadness for those I miss and tears of happiness when I remember them and the goofy things they did. Although2 others are in my life & heart now, I know one day they too shall leave this earth and more will come. So enjoy each day with your dobe and love him like tomorrow won't come.
