We took Skyler to Petsmart a couple days ago. This guy walked up to us and asked about her. She was very nice to him, which she's always nice to people. Anyway, he said that he had a dobe before that was also sweet. Then, he says that we were lucky to get a red dobe, because the black dobes skulls are too small for their brains, and they become aggressive. I was ticked off that for one that is just a stupid myth, and another thing he had a doberman before! I was so mad I couldn't even think to say anything! Plus, he was getting ready to leave. I told my husband that makes me so mad that stupid people believe that. Before his dumb comment, he said that the red ones skulls are more like rottweiler's skulls! I looked at him like he was ignorant, and he goes yeah it's true. I said that the color of their hair has nothing to do with their skulls. Then he told me the dumb thing about their brains. I can't believe that people actually believe that crap!

Well I wondered what those eye buggers were all about, now I know its Jada's brain squishing out of her head :11doh:

I dont even try to educate those types...not enough time on my part or enough brains on theirs. Doubt they ever had a Dobe anyway...just posers. :nana:

My favorite of all time is "Is that a Warlock?"

You should have said you have a black Dobe at home, but he's recuperating from surgery--he had holes drilled into his skull to help relieve the pressure and he's been affectionate ever since. At that point, you should have smiled and walked away. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during his next conversation when he repeats what you said in absolute seriousness.

Yea i thought the rumor was gone too. til a few weeks ago on a rottie board a member who had her first rott claimed her friend, who was also her trainer, told her this myth! She asked if dogs got headaches and her friend told her that when she leaned toward him and heard him growling it was his brain growing to big for his head and thats why his head hurt. She said it happened it dobes and rotts! LOOOOOOL!

I didnt even know the myth existed for rotts before I heard that. Dont worry, we set her straight!

I get stuff like that every single day....I ignore it all now! Lot's of people ask what kind of Doberman is he? They have never seen a brown one. Some have asked if he when will he put on more weight...thinking he was a skinny Rottie! Who cares....we are the select few that have the best dogs on earth to spend our lives with!!! How great is that?!!!

LMAO - please tell me this girl was kidding about hearing growling and thinking his brain was growing too big....OMG. People can't really be that dumb can they....I mean, all you have to do is take a step back and realize that that isn't a rational nor feasible statement. If someone said that to me I would sooo mess with them and explain about the "exploding dobie head".....lol.

I wish I could have thought to say something and set him straight, but I was soooo mad that I couldn't even think straight. Hum, maybe my brain was swelling! Some people are just so ignorant! I can't believe that trainer believes that crap!

that's why we got Molly - she is black and rust, but had her skull fractured as a pup, so her brain got a little extra room, so we didn't have to worry about her head blowing off.....

but I did hear that if you get the right supplements, the brain won't outgrow the skull - or do they just turn into rotts??? I forget......but I think a little eye of newt and wing of bat ought to do the trick quite nicely

Exactly thats how rotts were created, everyone thinks they came first but it was the other way around, huh?
Don't worry about it, he was just a special kind of stupid. And you can't fix stupid.

Urgh! I ignore most people with those comments. At the vets office a little westie was growling and barking at Asher at the end of his flexi leash. Being the "mean" doberman he is, he sat there with his tongue hanging out of his mouth and nub wagging. This ladies response to her son was, "Pick him up, that dog will eat him." Please.

LOL, Oh my goodness, my cheeks are hurting now from the eye booger theory. And to think I let my kids around these guys while I'm sitting her watching the brains squeeze through the eye sockets. They are going to turn on us at any minute now. Poor Jordan, he's starting early. He'll be a vicious monster in about, oh, two minutes.
