their adult female dobes neck. I need the measurement where you would put the collar. I have decided to make my own. I went today and got the leather, conchos, etc. I figure if it works out and looks good I will start selling them. I don't like alot of the collars at the petstore, they all look the same. I guess Im a little strange that way. The leather is very soft but durable and you can waterproof it! Anyways I would be really grateful if someone could do this for me.

It sounds like a great idea, but I don't have a female Doberman, only a male puppy. Are you going to make collars to fit the boys too?

If it works out I will have different sizes so all breeds could wear them and also different widths. The width I got today was an 1 1/4.

Chi is wearing a 16" now at 9 months and there is still room to grow - hopefully that will help

Okay I measured, Lexus's neck is 17 inches about halfway down where her collar rests. I buy her an 18 inch collar and usually have it buckled at about the middle hole.

jack is almost 3 weeks and wears a 10.. which is on the last notch heh.. and my big boy reno (pit/boxer) has a fat neck .. wears a 20"

I am just curious, what would be the top price you would pay for a collar you absoulutly(sp) loved? Do you think there is a market for this?

Keeva's is 16 1/2 inches. Most female Dobes I know are about 17-18 1/2 inches though.

Lexus or anyone else, what is your dream collar? width, colour of leather, etc?? Would you want leather, nylon, some other material?? I think there is a nitch for this but am just trying to get some ideas. I know lots of people have nylon collars, including myself for Bandit, but I find them so blah...I think for a breed like the doberman the collar needs to be a little more fancy.
But I am also a collar fanatic.

I think a leather collar, around two inches wide (I like the look of the wider collars but worry about their comfort so maybe a softer leather?) with stones that are securely set would be nice. I think turquoise would look great on any color dobe. Of course this would be more of a "pretty" collar than functional but that's fine with me

I also really like the look of the wider martingale collars that we so often see on the site hounds. Dress one of them up a bit and now we're talking

I have a 2" martingale collar that was my greyhounds. I really like the wider ones also!

Hmmm, Dream collar.... I would definitely like a collar with light lavendar stones set securely in it, lavender/purple are Lexy's colors, something maybe that was a leather collar with some braided leather areas in it (perchance the braided areas being a different color than the rest of the leather, maybe purple, or at least just a contrast, with out being obnoxious looking) , at least an inch wide, even an inch and a half I would like better. As Tracy said, a softer leather, but not so soft, that it would stretch out of place with use.

Durable enough that she could wear it daily, and I have two other dogs that wrestle with her, so durable enough to stand up to the occasional bite.

I would also like something fluffy and fun even just for her "going out" attire too. Once again with lilac or purple somewhere in there. I like purple, but not so dark it looks black you know.

Okay let me know when you have it ready, ha!

O.k I have found the dream leather Lexus it is very soft but not to soft, it is 1 1/2" in width. Here is the question, I can get a black collar and put purple stones (light purple) on the collar or I can get purple leather and put something simple on it say something like clear stones (diamond like) or silver studs, conchos??? DO NOT FEEL OBLIGATED...I am just trying to get ideas o.k....also I can have no stiching in the collar or choice of black, silver, or white. he he this is fun!!

My vote is for purple leather with clear stones! Can't wait to see the final products... You might end up with a booming business

Oh you are speaking my language Okie!! I think I would like purple leather (if the purple leather is dark, not obnoxious bright purple, if so then black) with lavendar stones:cool2: If you make it count me it!!

How is the collar business coming along? i wanna see the finished product! lol.. im trying to find a good camo collar for jack for when he is full grown, i just ordered a camo colored traffic leash for when we go to the flea market so i need to find a semi matching collar.. i like the nylon collars that they sell at the PX with the metal buckles (all my boys have the red metal buckled collars), but they dont come in camo color.. so this might take some looking into lol.. but im also intersted in black or red leather with spikes or maybe not spiked but masculine rivets or stones.. not to sure.. heh.

Well I am waiting on the leather and it is taking a long time. I went with a supplier in the U.S. When you refer to camo colour do you skin colour? I am not to sure what you mean.
The spikes come in various sizes so it does not have to look "ruff and tuff", rivets would be nice also. Trust me as soon as I get it finished I will post pics.
